Ethelred | Saturday, January 8, 2022 - 08:16 pm Now that population can be much larger is there a need to change the way the score is calculated? It appears that currently larger populations are going straight to the top of the scoreboard making higher population the main points generator and downplaying the importance of game level and welfare. |
Andy | Sunday, January 9, 2022 - 03:29 pm Game level is also a major factor in the score. the main change in the population is not population growth. It is the prevention of fast population decline. we are looking at he score computation from time to time. we do not like to change major game rules too often as many players count on them to be stable. |
Ethelred | Sunday, January 9, 2022 - 03:54 pm I understand. This makes perfect sense. However the current number 1 on WG has 18000 points from population alone, is 12000 points ahead of 2nd place and will be winning the number 1 spot for the next 3 months at least even with the score penalties. On average players earn about 4000 points from welfare and 4000 points from game level. These were intended to be major factors in gaining a high score but with players now able to earn 18000+ points from population alone they are no longer such a major factor. A high population is now the most important factor in achieving a high game score, was this intentional? |
Andy | Sunday, January 9, 2022 - 03:56 pm What about putting this to a vote, in Simcountry or Discord. |
Andy | Sunday, January 9, 2022 - 04:15 pm I looked into it and I agree that it is indeed a problem. The population does not grow very fast when it is above 100 million but limits were raised and the population can now reach beyond 600 million. we will look into the numbers and also into the penalties and the pace of repair. The idea is that multiple players will be able to win $SOL awards. |
neutralsc | Sunday, January 9, 2022 - 04:44 pm I guess Im too biased to provide input, right? |
JOEL | Sunday, January 9, 2022 - 04:46 pm Im biased on this position as well. However I must say keep the system! |
Ethelred | Sunday, January 9, 2022 - 04:46 pm Sorry, mate. It's not personal. |
Andy | Thursday, January 13, 2022 - 10:33 am In all fairness, the population is too dominant in the score. I made two changes, and to prevent personal interests from dominating the discussion, these changes are not open for any discussion.... The weight of the population in the score is reduced from 30 per million to 25 per million. the game level weight in increased from 700 per game level to 800 per game level. No more changes until the beginning of February. we may then look into it again. On of the reasons to change the weight of population is because you can just purchase population and shoot your score to the sky. we also limit the score points from assets, for the same reason. |
