Andy | Saturday, March 13, 2021 - 02:03 pm Shortages on all worlds are becoming more severe. It has some advantages as you get more money for products you produce (you also pay more for what you need). I see more new players joining Simcountry and some of the countries they get have large shortages of everything and they are clueless. Shortages can get out of hand and production in many corporations will decline with even more problems following. One of the reasons for the increasing shortages is the increasing population in many C3 countries while these countries do not create more corporations. We have now increased the number of corporations in C3 countries by 1. It results in several thousands corporations being built in C3 countries and quantities of products will increase a bit. you can see the graphs, showing the numbers of corporations producing a certain product, all showing a jump. The change adds 15000 corporations across Simcountry. It is not going to make a huge difference but may reduce the sharp edges and allow the industry in many countries to get some of the products it needs. It will not turn shortages into oversupply. the change can be reversed although a reverse measure does not close any corporations. It just prevents replacement of closed corporation and will take a real month or longer to reach its goal. no need for that. we will just watch the markets. |
Lord Mndz | Sunday, March 14, 2021 - 07:50 am Hi Andy, Good catch and you are right regarding the shortages. Maybe you can also increase productivity of some corporations by some tiny bit? thanks for the effort |
Andy | Sunday, March 14, 2021 - 10:39 am This is a multi parameter system with complex dependencies. Changing multiple parameters is risky. I would prefer not to intervene at all. We just want to prevent serious damage across the market, hence the action. If it improves, we will stop immediately. |

Banedon Runestar | Tuesday, March 23, 2021 - 02:18 pm The various maintenance corps are in chronic shortages. I've tried opening a few, but the corps can't even get the materials they need to build the maintenance products. The only way to have a shot of getting anything built is to set them to buy on "immediate" which kills the corp's profitability. |
Andy | Tuesday, March 23, 2021 - 03:05 pm The problem is serious and more corporations should be build. players can build many, there are workers free in many countries. We have increased the possibility for C3 countries to build corporations and more than 12.000 were built immediately. their production will kick in and added to the market. The responsibility is in the end for the players. there are many possibilities to add corporations and make a profit. buying "immediate" may kill the profit now but it will allow the corporation to produce and as it does, it will deliver products to others corporations and reduce shortages. we think that production will increase shortly. we can have C3s build another corporation but with another 12000, the market might flip over to surpluses which is much much worse than shortages. |
Andy | Wednesday, March 24, 2021 - 11:08 am I see some shortages declining and on the utilization page, many green numbers which means that current production is exceeding demand. Many war related products may go green because of an increase in production. some are already green. it may cause (mainly in C3 countries) some closures of defense related corporations and the automatic creation of other corporations with a large shortage. be careful with what you are whishing for. we will not intervene. the next upgrade in maybe 2 weeks, may result in another round of price reductions for ammunition and possibly weapons. |
Zakalwe | Saturday, March 27, 2021 - 09:26 pm Please reconsider another round of price reductions. Those of us that are heavily invested in the arms industry are losing money. Too many defence products are in the green. |
davidclonan9 | Saturday, March 27, 2021 - 09:36 pm I have lost much money concerning this Reduction after spending Trillions in Arms before the upgrade... there should be some sort of compensation.. |
Andy | Sunday, March 28, 2021 - 06:43 pm No money lost. the cost of many weapons and ammo went down by 10 to 15%. this is no loss, it is just cheaper to by more. Market pricing for many products fluctuates all the time and can go up or down by 20 to 50%. this is how the market behaves. With every round of changes, we have in fact increased the profitability of the defense industry, as measured with the same market conditions. it is different if market conditions change one way or another. |
Andy | Sunday, March 28, 2021 - 06:46 pm The trend for a very long time is for the cost of defense to decline. we promised that a very long time ago and already executed many small changes. what happens next is that many C3 countries close defense industries if there is a surplus and start new corporations with large shortages. with the current market situation the process is easing some severe shortages in many products. |
Zakalwe | Sunday, March 28, 2021 - 08:55 pm The weapons and ammunition products that are currently in the green are green due to your changes not to normal market fluctuations. You said so yourself earlier on this thread. |
Andy | Monday, March 29, 2021 - 09:33 am True. I am not saying they are green for other reasons. What I say is that this will cause c3 countries to close such corporations. C3 countries react to market situations and adapt. The defense industry should be able to survive this. these corporations have the same potential for profit compared to other corporations while employing half the usual number of workers. |
Banedon Runestar | Monday, March 29, 2021 - 04:00 pm How *does* the engine decide to close a player corp? I know I'll come back after a day or two and sometime a corp has closed. It had no debt, was recently at least somewhat profitable, and was set to prod/hire 100%. There's no warnings on them before I log out. So why just all of a sudden close out a Medical Material or Services corp that's heavily in the red? |
davidclonan9 | Monday, March 29, 2021 - 04:35 pm Read your countries newspaper you will see the reason for the closure, As corps increase in Productivity they require more workers, you should always make sure you have reserve of workers in all category, So your corps can hire them too.. maybe that's the reason.. |
Andy | Tuesday, March 30, 2021 - 01:11 pm good advice There are no closures without a very good reason. |
Banedon Runestar | Wednesday, March 31, 2021 - 08:21 pm @davidclonan9 So why would this corp be closed on me over night? Corporation Closed Etar High Tech Services 01 has been closed. Thu May 2, 4810 The corporation Etar High Tech Services 01 in Etar has been closed because the market value and utilization are too low and the corporation is making losses. 333493 employees were fired. It's High Tech Services, that's always running in the red. The corp was debt free, and was making money every year. There were no warnings when I logged off. Perhaps 12 hours later, it's automatically closed on me. My understanding is that if there's a worker shortfall in something, say High Tech Executives, other employee types get "laid-off" in proportion until the worker shortfall is either resolved or the company fundamentals (debt, etc) cause it to collapse. But 12 hours? |
davidclonan9 | Wednesday, March 31, 2021 - 09:01 pm I've had similar issues when I came back and that's the solution.. have spare workers for all category then your corps will do just fine, No more closures.. kindly use the employment page to move workers categories that are lacking.. you'd also be surprised that a particular Category might have zero workers. |
Andy | Friday, April 2, 2021 - 04:05 pm Good advice. The education priorities page is probably the most important page in Simcountry. we intend to move it to a more prominent place. The first thing to check when you login. Does my country have enough workers in all workers categories. |
