Cycrillix | Monday, December 16, 2019 - 07:53 pm Migration is currently broken. Even with 90+ migration index, no immigrants appear in my country. Also the calculation for migration index seems to make no sense, it is almost entirely reliant on your business index, which is reliant on your corporation productivity. It should be directly calculated based on employment, and salaries. |
Daniel Iceling | Wednesday, December 18, 2019 - 05:40 am Cycrillix, Migration is balanced across the world. ie, you can only receive immigrants, if another nation has people leaving. Currently, most nations in the world have a migration index high enough to prevent their people from leaving. So there are very few immigrants to go around. That is why you aren't receiving many immigrants. The migration index itself is based on a range of factors. Such as Welfare Index, and Wages. Since both of these contribute the business index, it looks like business index is critical, even though it's not. In practice, it's just people wanting to move to high wage countries, with a good quality of life. At the moment, the main way you get significant levels of population growth through 'immigration', is by doing worker trades with other players. If you have high wages, and are trading high skill professionals, to receive low level workers, then you will get a lot more people than you give in exchange. Signed President of DanNation on LU |
Andy | Tuesday, December 24, 2019 - 11:23 am Thank you Daniel. I might just add your explanation to the documentation. I will adopt this strategy. There are many good answers on the forum. |
Daniel Iceling | Tuesday, December 24, 2019 - 04:50 pm Andy, Haha, Thanks Andy, I'm always happy to help Simcountry players learn about the game Signed President of DanNation on LU |
Cycrillix | Tuesday, December 24, 2019 - 07:30 pm If it is true that what you say is correct, then the system still needs reworking--- the fact that nobody anywhere in a world of tens of billions of people wants to leave to better countries seems a bit of an impossibility--- the index at which people emigrate should be increased. |
Andy | Wednesday, December 25, 2019 - 05:18 pm I will check. did not look into it for some time. |
Cycrillix | Monday, December 30, 2019 - 04:17 pm Thank you, Andy. As of now, the current wages are extremely low (at least for America), with most countries and players paying around 30,000 salaries to their workers, with pretty low health, education, and other services. This would make these countries atrocious to live in, as compared to 120% welfare payments, 90k avg salary, high health & education of say, Balta on FB. The best thing to do in my opinion would be to make pull stronger, as in if a country nearby has a migration factor higher than the migration factor of your country, the higher your migration is. Say for instance, a country near you had an index of 90 compared to your 50. That would be a large difference, therefore you would have larger emigration than if you say, had an index of 70 compared to that 90. It would encourage players to try to better balance what is most profitable, but what also keeps civilians from emigrating to other countries. |
dubletar | Monday, December 30, 2019 - 04:54 pm If what Daniel is saying is true, then the Doublestar Empire demands an immediate return of all its citizens, from every nation in which they've sought refuge, who've left during trying times seeking greater pastures! Your pastures are at home! That is all... |
Daniel Iceling | Tuesday, December 31, 2019 - 02:15 am Cycillix, The really scary thing is, wages in Simcountry, aren't actually very low by US standards... US Federal Minimum Wage is $7.25 per hour. Assuming 40 hours per week, 52 weeks a year, that's a $15,080 annual income. In Simcountry, 300 wage index is the 'base' level, used by C3's and most players. A wage Index of 300 results in a Low Level Worker receiving an annual salary of $15,000. Almost exactly the same as a US minimum wage worker. Signed President of DanNation on LU |
