The Army

The cost of the army is reduced again.
This time by a reduction in the cost of many weapons and ammunition and a small decline in the numbers of soldiers and officers.

Mainly defensive weapons and ammo are cheaper now but also some offensive ones. We intend to continue this trend and more reductions can be expected.
Changes are never very large and the corporations producing these products keep the same (potential) level of profitability.

Corporations

we are continuing to make small changes aimed at diversification of the use of products.
Example: military services are used in huge numbers and suffer major shortages. Other military related products are used in much smaller quantities.
We have made a small shift from military services to other more specific maintenance products.
More such changes take place but they are small and never create any surpluses where there were shortages before.

Thank you for these changes. Can we also increase the size of military units to help reduce the amount of clicking in a war. The units are too small.

We have already increased the size several times.
we stopped to allow existing units and players to adjust.

I will put another round of size increase for the next game update.

Great news. Andy is it also possible to allow us to customize the weapons included in our navy? I understand the need for limits on navy size, but some of the weapons I am being forced to include are useless and I would rather replace them with more NFP or Cruise Missile ships.

Andy,

Thank you for the updates. I have also noticed that birth rates have been rising in my country since the update. Did you make changes to births during this update?

Andy any word on navies. As it stands right now navies have no practical use. The number of offensive weapons on them is too low to even take down a few garrisons. I understand having limits on fleet sizes. We dont want to go back to the old days of invincible fleets, but all I am asking is that you allow us to customize the content of the fleet within the current size limits.

Does anyone else agree with my assessment of the current state of navies?

Yes, navies are not used at all due to the size limitations and this is very sad as this part of the game was used to be very fun. Maybe it is possible to increase the size but make them not to use all weapons when attacking/defending

If they allow us to customize them I will be happy. Most of the naval weapons are useless and I dont want to be forced to stock them and all their different ammo types just to have a naval force. Let us decide for ourselves the composition.

Since the previous update my population is shrinking at the rate of 100,000+ a month. Having given us a mass population boom, now watching it walk out the door is pretty depressing. I built even more hospitals and the birth rate is falling and the death rate isn't getting any better. The monthly cash flow is basically break even at best at this point. Not a lot of fun to be honest. I debated long and hard about renewing my membership...

Wind what is you population size? 140 million seems to be the new hard limit. It was 60 million before all the growth changes.

John Galt is right. The changes have increased the "soft" limit (the limit on how high your population can grow naturally, aka without buying population or transfering population) to about 140 million. Assuming a very high healthcare index. Previously the limit was 60 million. So our soft maximum has roughly doubled.

Many of us slightly overshot the limit, and will see declines until we reach our new stabilization population of 100-140 million, depending on our healthcare index.

Overall I think it's working well, and the change has been good for the game.

Yes I meant the soft limit for natural growth. You can boost your population higher all you want, but that is a stupid waste of gold. You would be better off conquering a C3 and boosting that. Countries can actually become sustainable economic powerhouses now with the higher natural population. My countries bring in around 130-140B profit each month when oil is at peak price, which it is 90% of the time.

John Galt,

Agreed on all points.

Boosting your population above the natural growth limit with gold coins is expensive, and results in a declining and aging population, because births can not sustain populations that high.

Countries geared for profit can sustain well over $100B surplus per game month. My nation usually has less profit, because I prioritise improving the quality of life for my citizens, over maximising per month profit.

I'm curious though, if you are operating at the full +$100B surplus per month per country. What do you spend all that money on? When I was doing that, I found I was gaining cash far faster than I could find a use for it.

I spend it all on weapons and ammo. My arsenal is likely the largest in game now as I have been doing that for 2 years. I also play the shares market with my ceo.
