Andy | Monday, March 25, 2019 - 03:18 pm We have made several changes and some units are now 30 to 40% larger. Please check as it should be possible to reduce the numbers of units you have. The cost of these units increased with the size but reducing their numbers will reduce cost to lower levels than before. We will wait a bit to allow the armies to adapt, including countries without a president. we will then continue to increase the size of units. |
Lord Mndz | Monday, March 25, 2019 - 05:31 pm Wow - this is so great. I am really surprised that you finally decided to make changes in tens of percentages instead tiny adjustments. I feel really engaged by this! |
Khome | Monday, March 25, 2019 - 05:44 pm Why are we only making tweaks to military sizes and costs? There are a host of other issues facing us that we are close to begging for help. Just read the forums. Population explosions, different levels of workers a disproportionate amounts, the outrageous amount of product dumping that many of us are frustrated by. |
Lord Mndz | Monday, March 25, 2019 - 06:22 pm Khome - you cannot fix everything at once, it needs time. |
Khome | Monday, March 25, 2019 - 06:46 pm Needs time? Sure, I'd agree to that, if it were even addressed over time. This goes way back Mndz, I've brought up many of these issues and it's been either ignored or dismissed. I gave up trying after a while, but why not, I'll try again... |
Andy | Tuesday, March 26, 2019 - 01:24 pm We have mainly worked on fixing the population problem we had and it took time to materialize as people age one year in two real days. That effort continues at a low pace and population growth will be tempered at high levels. we have made small and frequent changes to the workers mix in corporations and changed the math of LLWs versus other groups. This is continuing and will reduce the need for manual conversions. We have also increased the size of units by changing settings numbers but you have to be careful. The size has major consequences for the industry producing all the materials needed, supply units etc. we have also reduced the cost of the army, substantially by now. So large part of the updates is on the economic side, some on the military. More in the update planned for today and moved to tomorrow (Wednesday). Another area concerns products in Simcountry that are used in a small number of other products and with a very small number of corporations. These products used to be a major problem as they are easy to manipulate with severe consequences. Luckily it never happened on a large scale and the situation now is improved although we are checking the markets for potential problems. You can easily check with us. Look at products where there are less than 30 corporations producing them and are used in major industries. |
Lord Mndz | Tuesday, March 26, 2019 - 06:48 pm Hi Andy, I think it is very easy to balance any product in SC - you just need to increase or decrease how much countries are consuming themselves ( not corporations). Also I think that countries should benefit much more from high populations - "Taxes paid by Citizens" should increase a lot for big countries and that source of income should become main thing why players would need to compete for high population countries. I mean it would become objective of pvp wars. To balance the production you would simply need to increase production for the products countries consume and that would also increase profitability of corporations which is also very welcomed. |
John Galt | Thursday, March 28, 2019 - 01:10 pm Andy will the 1000 attack limit be increased also in response to this? I am worried that the larger defence interceptor/helicopter wings plus empire & fed response will be too much for a 1000 weapon attack. What are your thoughts? |
Daniel Iceling | Thursday, March 28, 2019 - 05:50 pm John Galt, What is the 1,000 Weapon attack limit? As far as I can see, offensive land units can have well over 1,000 weapons? Signed President of DanNation on LU |
Andy | Friday, March 29, 2019 - 10:48 am Changing consumption has major followup effects. we are not changing easily. Countries without a president are quicker to close corporations if there is a surplus and automatic building in these countries is creating the ones most needed. this is a good way to balance. There are many others but we like to let the market find its way. I will look into what you call the 1000 weapons limit. I am not sure it has any influence on these units but I will let you know. We will also look into the size of units and continue to increase although no massive changes but rather some tuning. I hope that the number of units is indeed declining but it is not easy to find out. we have no total counts like for corporations. |
John Galt | Friday, March 29, 2019 - 04:59 pm Daniel, when you are attacking only 1000 of each weapon type can attack in same time. So if I had a unit with 1400 mid range missile batteries, only 1000 of them can attack. |
Daniel Iceling | Friday, March 29, 2019 - 06:21 pm John Galt, Ah, thank you, I didn't know that. I'll include it in any future unit designs. Signed President of DanNation on LU |
Andy | Friday, March 29, 2019 - 06:32 pm There are less than 1000 weapons of a single type in all standard units. I will however look into it because you can also attack from bases, without using units. |
John Galt | Tuesday, April 2, 2019 - 10:24 pm Andy you can customize standard units and have them composed of only a single unit type, which would then get you over the 1000. |
