I don't know if this is only me but everyday I set education priorities of all of my countries and next day they are being restored to something I don't like to see. I don't know if this depends on my game level which is 1 currently or some automation being switched on(tried them all out without any results), but it is so very much annoying that it stops me from actively playing.

Any ideas why this is happening? W3C?

have you turned off the automatic settings?

yea i did that on and off again, but that doesn't have any effect. I think this is some auto system which tries to help but it actually doesn't.

Turning the settings off in the Automation settings at the top corner of your screen and click on the boxes to unmark your ticks and then click save on the bottom.

Then go back to your education priority and reset the settings the way you want, it works for me like a charm.

It doesn't work at all. Yesterday I set all priorities in all countries, also switched off all automation options but today game changed them again.

Andy, can you look at this? this is really annoying. e.g. Country "Distant Star" at FB.

Andy,

can you look at this urgently - this is going crazy!! Even all automation settings are off, my countries resetting my education priorities and continue to build schools/hospitals/roads. it means that countries building schools automatically and then closing them due to shortage of teachers, while I cannot set education priorities to allow training of enough teachers.. It is like uncontrollable/unstoppable waste of assets and I am losing like 10-15T a week due to this!!

Buying and closing..

Lord Mndz,

What is your current Education Index, Healthcare Index, Transportation Index, and Employment Index?

Simcountry contains a number of safety features to prevent countries from spiralling out of control, when players don't log in, or don't understand the systems.

If your Education Index, Healthcare Index, Transportation Index, or Employment Index, is to low, then chances are it is triggering the emergency management system to re-enable automation.

Hi Daniel,

I understand that there could be such systems, but what I am trying to say is that this is killing me and I have no way out. From one direction some system is building up stuff while from another one prevents training enough people to support it. Automatically building and closing schools or hospitals is not any kind of help and I want to have an option to switch it off.

I'm starting to auto build corps too even though I have that function switched off. Apparently it starts anyway if employment and Ed indexs drop to certain levels. I can't do anything about it either .

Autobuilding corps causes less damage than building and right away closing schools or hospitals but still it means that even experienced players cannot control automatic game options which is really bad..

Lord Mndz,

The last time I saw Andy post on the forums, was Nov 11th 2018. I'm not sure if the GM has read the forums since then. I hope they have, but as players we have no way to know... I guess what I am saying is, I understand your frustration.

Since Andy/the GM has not been able to respond to the thread. I don't want you hanging in the wind, with no response at all.

While I have no way of knowing exactly what the GM would say in this specific case. Having seen some other cases like it, I can hazard an informed guess as to the kinds of things Andy would probably say...

1). When reporting a problem, please state the name/s of the country/s effected and the world on which they are based. (I have previously seen Andy say that if he tries to look into a problem without this information it is like finding a needle in a haystack and he often gives up).

2). The exact procedure used by the automation was programmed a very long time ago. As such it is sub optimal. The GM's would love to update it, and many other things, but limited resources, and developer time, prevents some systems from being updated in a timely manor.

3). Because of past cases, where a player would be absent from the game for a long time, or lack full knowledge of it's systems. The Automation is programmed to step in and take control, when a nation is close to what the game considers to be a failure state.

3.1). The situations that trigger the automation to take control of a country, include, but are not limited to... A low Education index, a low Employment index, or a low Finance index. All of these can cause situations where it is almost impossible for a country to recover, if left to long. So the automation steps in when it sees these indexes drop to critical levels.

4). As far as I can tell, the automation was programmed as a singular whole, for the entire game. As such, it would not be possible for the GM's to disable the automation system in your country, without disabling it for the entire game. Which would cause total chaos across all worlds. Given that, the only way to get automation off in your countries, would be for the indexes, Education/Finance/Employment, to rise to safe levels.

5). Usually, the automation does a reasonably good job of restoring a country to functional index levels. However it does tend to spend more money than absolutely necessary to do it. (The build/close schools bug, that you are witnessing right now). However once a country is to far gone (usually anything below education index 60) then there is no way to prevent the death spiral, and it's failure becomes almost inevitable.

6). This is why it is vital to keep on top of your Education, Employment, and Finance indexes. A failure to do so risks the nation collapsing, the automation tries to step in, but it's far from perfect. The cleanest way to prevent it, is to stay way above the danger levels at all times. (Indexes above 120, prevent auto ordering of schools/hospitals, even when automation is enabled, try to keep your Education, Healthcare, and Infrastructure indexes above a minimum of 120 at all times, so the system never thinks it needs to order schools for you).

7). Having looked at the nations in your empire (finding it wasn't easy without the country names and world, but I have more free time than Andy, so I was able to find the needle in the haystack). Some of them have fallen below fatal levels, and are probably beyond saving at this point.

8). Since each additional nation in an Empire drives up the government costs in all nations in the empire, these failing countries are dragging down the others, endangering your entire empire. It is probably best to abandon the nations that are beyond saving, so that your government costs decrease and you can restore balance to the rest of the empire. After you have stabilised the situation, you can begin to expand again.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help. However considering the way the automation was programmed, I think these are the best options you're going to get. Even if Andy does return to the thread and answer your questions, I doubt there is much he can realistically do, given the programme they have to work with, and the limited developer staff.

Thanks Daniel, I am working on a saving plan, but still the system is bad as it works wrong and I cannot prevent the damage it causes.. and the damage is huge..

I pay money for playing this game, and expect product which works and not some auto system which is not controllable and instead of helping is killing the countries.

Auto ordering schools/hospitals should pay attention if there are no teachers to support it, this is a bug of this game that there is no control here.

If you look at past posts I have clearly indicated the country name to start with and also provided the links to the graphs to see what I am talking about..

Anyway, thanks for your time and advises, maybe I will be forced to abandon the countries If I run out of resources to save them.

Lord Mndz,

Yeah I noticed you're doing a pretty amazing job of getting your Education index up really fast in your leader country. I was quite impressed.

I didn't even know it was possible to grow the education index that quickly. I hope you can turn things around in as many of your countries as possible.

If you can manage to get your education Index high enough, fast enough, you might be able to transfer some teachers to the other countries to give them a jump start.

10 nations is a pretty epic empire. I think that might even be the maximum these days, I can't recall if rebellions are programmed to kick in above 10 or 15.

Thanks, Daniel,

I max everything towards education in main countries and I also transferring teachers to countries to at least stop countries from closing schools.

We will see how it goes as health index is more complex..

I really hope that GMs will be able to fix this bug as it might have serious implications to new players who don't have such resources to use.

This is a SERIOUS problem. My education index was automatically updated to 121; when its only 120. I do not know who did do their math right but someone f'ed something up and quite frankly. This system is just another virus for players to fall victim off. While more typing of the war game occurs that will be COMPLETELY overlooked.

Things like these need to be fixed.. i do not understand why they have to become such an issue and include things that are not even checked in my automation features.

Automation processes is one big bug which doesn't care what you set in your options bar.. I avoid using them because all this is so random that once enabled you cannot find the way how to stop it..

Try this one out - if you sell large amount of goods on the markets(e.g. worths 10T or more) your education priorities are being updated the same game month to some random numbers.

It is not good when one procedure builds schools, second one tries to help you with priorities completely ignoring teachers and then the third closes the school as the result. funny stuff..

I will look into it again.

We have turned is off a long time ago (except for players who ask for it).

There are two cases when the system may turn them on:

1. If you do not login for a long period the system will try to make sure your education priorities are set to prevent shortages in any workers/professionals group.

2. If your country is seen as failing and in danger of bankruptcy.
This goes in most cases with a failing industry and shortages of workers/professionals.

Thank you, Andy, we will wait what you can find.

I log in to the game each day and my countries had assets big enough so the reasons should be somewhere else like game levels, financial index, education level, automation options and etc.

Hi Andy,

I was able to increase education index and auto building/closing schools stopped, also education priorities are not changing now. I believe it stopped at about 70 education index. If you want to replicate the scenario you need to find a country with 30-40 education index and look what is happening with its automatic recovery procedures.

I will check if any of my countries are still building roads as this was the same as with the schools.

Andy,

I tried it again. I sold some e. power at the market and my education priorities were changed immediately.

Country also shows incorrect message which is not accurate:

Severe Shortage
The country has sever shortages of all kinds of materials. Such shortages cause many people to leave the country.
Move money into the country or take loans and let the country place orders to resolve the shortages.

This is one of many examples when auto change of education priorities is being triggered.

I get that message to sometimes after selling a lot of product even though I have no shortages. I just ignore it .

Lord Mndz

Friday, January 11, 2019 - 12:14 pm Click here to edit this post
Yes, this is the way how it works. The message has nothing to do with the shortages of materials or cash situation of a country, it is being wrongly showed after each bigger trade at the market. I would not care about the message, but it screws up my education priorities and I need time to get them back each time.

That also happened to me, now I only use my Ent for sales and transfer the cash.

When it happens you may want to check your other settings. I seem to remember it messed up something else, maybe gov salaries.

I have checked and rechecked the automatic interventions and experimented in our own countries.

There are two conditions for interventions:

no login for two weeks while the country is slipping into a bad economic situation.
education priorities are then set to eliminate shortages and enable hiring.
Also if there are very large numbers of unemployed in a specific group and shortages in another, there is some shifting. This will also occur in real life.

The other condition is called:
"The country is in danger of bankruptcy"
or
The country is slipping into imbalance in the workers groups, low employment, losses, decreasing indexes etc.
The intervention is intended to prevent the country from going into a situation of "beyond repair"
players then tend to stop playing such a country. They abandon the country and many times, the account.

The chance of any intervention when you are in game level 4 or higher is very low.

Andy

Please check your countries if you see interventions.

If you have one and you are quite sure your country does not fall into any of these conditions, please give us the name of the world/country.

Andy,
It happened to me on WG in a small country I had just taken over. I sold about 10 M Elec power with some in reserve and got the message Mndz stated above for 1 month and the Ed priorities reset.
If you can try it out for yourself.

Really guys.
There is no connection what so ever between any product, buying or selling and education priorities.

The trading process runs all the time and is doing just trading.
It has no connection to the country parameters and certainly cannot change education priorities.
