What effect in the game does changing Government type have if any?
Just recently another player informed me that they changed their government to Communist and saw a (significant) population increase.
Does the government type have any bearing on one's country? |

Michael,
NONE. The player was misinformed. The population growth in his country, was due to other factors. "Government Type" is a purely flavour/cosmetic choice.

Population depends on:
The current population size (small population numbers grow faster)
health care. Great healthcare reduces death rates in all age groups.
Population distribution - ages 18 to 40 produce babies. Others don't. Migration, wars and population purchasing can influence their percentage in the country.
