An interesting idea is to have nations join an international project to boost their economies as well as foster relations between players.

For Example a project for a regional railroad system. For each country that agrees to participate in the project you gain a 1% bonus to production for the corporations located within those countries, although each country that agrees to be part of the project must maintain a 200 railroad index.

Clean Water Initiative would be an world wide project where each country that maintains at least a 200 water treatment index would gain a 10 health index bonus and players could send funding to these countries to create clean water in order to boost their score for being a helpful country.

I like this idea. It improves the player interaction in game and on the forum. Also it could be expanded to include space to help boost that little used function of the game.
