Andy | Wednesday, September 27, 2017 - 11:37 am We continue work on the war game, introducing changes to military assets and units and preparing for a change that will allow more PvP wars and reduce war restrictions on FB. The following upgrade next week will include: Increased size of some military units, including defensive air force, land units and Garrisons. Special units will become larger. We expect the use of special forces ammo to increase. It will become visible in the market. in a next upgrade, around mid October, special forces units will use 2 special forces products and the number may increase in following updates. We intend to end up with units that are much more powerful and more capable to perform the tasks they are designed for. More details will be published here in the coming days. |
Aries | Wednesday, September 27, 2017 - 02:15 pm Larger units is a good change and leads to less units to manage and less map mess. |
Sheepman RGB | Wednesday, September 27, 2017 - 10:59 pm This update isent to bad, hopefully the sizes will be right on, as i do think defense air wings are currently to small |
Andy | Thursday, September 28, 2017 - 07:19 pm Important question now is the configuration of the army of a country that opens itself to the war game. Everyone can stay out of the war game. Opening up for war will be a decision a player takes. We will require such a player to have a serious army. We are looking at the start situation for new players and will upgrade what they have but there will be an additional requirement before they become part of the war game. We may add incentives in gold coins or in military units or whatever, to make them decide to go for the war game but more important now is what they should have in the country when it happens. We will decide on the conditions, execute the function and add to the game in one of the following upgrades. Not in one of the next two but maybe the next one. Also, currently working on notifications on mobile devices. It will require an important update to the game APP, including the possibility to request notifications on the mobile device and a mobile app page(s) to allow players to choose the settings they want. Currently, notifications are by mail or on Facebook or on twitter. mobile phone notifications will be added to these possibilities. We would like to add more types of notifications to warn players when more situations occur. This could be on the military side or as we already have, the economic side. |
Andy | Wednesday, October 4, 2017 - 05:27 pm Following the latest upgrade this week, we are currently looking into the initial setup of a new country. Until now, new countries were armed in the same way C3 countries were armed in war level 0. this will be changed to a higher level and new countries will start with more military power. C3 level 4 or 5? Currently there are tiny and small garrisons. This too could be upgraded. We will add capabilities to auto response units, allowing other units to participate as well and add multiple random attacks. We will also continue to improve the finances of countries in general, reducing cost and increasing income. C3 countries might become harder to take over and such increase in income may compensate. New players will also get more financial support, and even more so if they join a federation and stay there. Some of this will be in the next upgrade, the rest a little later. We also continue to: - reduce the number of fortifications in countries that have too many. - Increase the size of some military units some more. - double the size of the special forces unit (later bigger) - Continue to diversify nukes (this could be the last step). - Check on cities and eventually continue reductions. Also the minimum numbers can be reduced a bit. The upgrade of notifications will be substantial, allowing for old and new notifications to be defined easily, both on desktops and in the Simcountry app. Notifications will become available on mobile devices, both Apple and Android running phones and pads. |
Khome | Thursday, October 5, 2017 - 06:34 pm Survey: Does anyone use the app? Just out of curiosity |
SuperSoldierRCP | Thursday, October 5, 2017 - 11:59 pm I do |
SuperSoldierRCP | Friday, October 6, 2017 - 03:16 am Andy, I have a question regarding scoring. How are the war scores calculated? I was looking at some of the scores and they made little or no sense when I was trying to read them. In fact I think I might have found an error in the "War Protection and War Level Contribution" scoring system that needs to be addressed before the end of next month. One player with an empire of 7 countries at war level 4 has a score increase of 350 points, but then myself a player of 6 nations of war level 11 receives a reduction of 164 points. It almost seems as the higher war levels are penalized. In fact one nation in the top ten is a single nation with war level 1 and gains an extra 34 points to their score. I also noticed a semi-pointless trend. As I went though the number anyone who ranked their empire to be judge as peaceful for game level grading (ALWAYS) saw a reduction in there points. At war level 11 that should be around an extra 600 score point boost, but because I'm set to be judged as peaceful I'm punished and deprived of near 700-800 score points which would place me in the number one spot. I even compared my level to Aries (who is another war level 11), He gained over 600 point boost(ranked defensively), but myself(ranked peacefully) saw a subtraction of 165 points. I'm not complaining saying I want free coins or anything, but I think the GM need to look at this issue for next month. If someone chooses to be ranked peacefully or defensively that is their personal choice and indicative to their personal play style, but a peacefully judge empire shouldn't be punished should they want to expand into the war game well keeping that judgement preference. |
Andy | Friday, October 6, 2017 - 11:03 am Supersoldier, Nothing is changed in this score system for a very long time. this is the first time in years that i see a complaint. (you mentioned it last month too). I would like to look into it, but I need two names of two countries where you think the score is wrong when you compare them. I know that the explanation of the score might be a bit different from what actually is computed and I might fix the explanation while at it. Please don't give me 10 cases, just two names. |
Jauterson001 | Friday, October 6, 2017 - 08:07 pm I would recommend that a separate scoring system be used to rank countries completely unrelated to the scoring system for gc. I see nothing wrong with the current ranking system. New, active players are encouraged to participate which is a very good thing these days. I would like to see more changes geared towards helping newer active players succeed It would be good to see a separate score for your country that would be comparable to all other player countries though. It would be nice to know how you rank against everyone else, without the penalties applied. |
Andy | Friday, October 6, 2017 - 10:10 pm You are right. The penalties disturb the real comparison. Having two rankings however, is confusing and I already see the messages coming in: "I am ranking second and I did not receive any award" try to explain this. I see these even now when players see themselves somewhere on the list on the 29th and expect an award, then don't get it because they were pushed down by someone before the month ended. This ranking system is probably the third try in these years. it is a problem if you want to prevent a group of 5 or 10 players from having all the awards each and every month. We try to give more players a chance. On the other hand, we do help new players (you have been through this), and will make it even nicer for them. |
Aries | Saturday, October 7, 2017 - 12:08 am I have recommended a scoring system that would be separate from the current ones. The Player Power Rankings, which can be found on the suggestions forum. The reason this would avoid confusion for awards is that it scores players, not countries. It is also possible to score yourself with the model I created. Looking back on it, I would remove the space score but leave it at Military, Wealth, and Finance Power. Then those add to the Total Power Level. https://www.simcountry.com/discus/messages/8/24236.html?1451569550 I used it to score current players once before: https://www.simcountry.com/discus/messages/1/25215.html?1478118951 |
Jauterson001 | Saturday, October 7, 2017 - 12:14 am Do you remember a BlueSerpent? I believe he used to compile top 10 lists for a bunch of different indexes for all the worlds. Used to rank federations too. Anyone out there remember any of this? |
Michael | Saturday, October 7, 2017 - 12:50 am @Jauterson001 -yes I remember a couple of the lists BlueSerpent made. He apparently left the game not long after I started -at least I have not seen or heard of him for 2 or 3 years now. |
Jauterson001 | Saturday, October 7, 2017 - 01:44 am Actually it was Laguna Heres a link to stats he posted in 2011. https://www.simcountry.com/discus/messages/3/18199.html?1321292202 |
Andy | Saturday, October 7, 2017 - 02:49 pm Rating players rather than countries is a usable alternative. I wish we could make it quickly but there is so much to do. I will keep it in mind. |
Andy | Saturday, October 7, 2017 - 03:49 pm More price reductions for defensive weapons will follow in the next upgrade and more defense related corporations will shed workers to become smaller in terms of the number of people working there. This will free workers for the formation of other corporations. We are less concerned these days with the total number of corporations in each world and the processing time associated with many millions of transactions. Our current servers, mainly after the last upgrade, can handle much larger numbers. reducing the number of workers in these corporations will make it easier to create your own, more diversified, portfolio of corporations, mainly in the defense industries. |
