Thoughts?

With all of this happening, i somehow feel that what Trump and the Aussies are doing is beneficial for their countries.

Well I don't think that the US wants people to be killed in a Terrorist attack! nor does any country hope ill will on anyone....People are so quick to point fingers.

It saddens me when the first thing people say after a major event has nothing to do with the loss of life. Shows the sad state of mind we all live in.

Rather then pointing fingers, we should pray and support those in need... Then after some time then we can point fingers.

@SuperSoldierRCP
Every year 1.3 million people die from car accidents in the US alone. This is about 3287 people a day. One can argue that these deaths are just as tragic and unexpected to the individual victims as deaths from terrorism are. Yet none of you will ever feel your knees tremble in mourning from this alone. To say that the "state of mind" of people is degraded in some way because they do not mourn those they never met (just as we do not mourn the 3,287 car accident deaths every day) seems a bit too facebooky for me. Instead those wishing to spark debate on how to avoid seemly avoidable deaths should not be shamed for "pointing fingers" and "not praying" but should instead be acknowledged for trying to spark discord on what they think will and will not prevent future tragedies.

Porter,

If you ever get the chance to study sociology there is a something called the "Forgetful mind phenomenon" and I would suggest you study it. It touches on what you said. It states that people are less likely to help or support those who are effected by issues in which they couldn't prevent.

As human beings we intervene in issues to make ourselves feel better. You help someone more often then not because you feel uncomfortable to some extent and you want to change the outcome in order to make yourself feel better.

The theory states that we support those who CAN alter future outcome(as you said car accidents), but we point fingers or distance ourselves from events in which we CANNOT prevent(natural disasters, terror attacks).

You are right we cannot mourn every death but, we need understand that these issues are just as preventable as other issues.

Terror attacks are intentional and with a message sent along with it, which is why we react the way we do. Car accidents are just that, accidents but are sad nonetheless.

...Although I should add, Ford disregarding the known safety issues associated with the Ford Pinto is terrifying; especially when considering their reasons. They concluded that settling lawsuits would be more cost effective than an expensive recall to save lives.

Your depressing tidbit for the day..

we can disagree with an particular ideologue, and throw rocks into their crowd, but when they throw rocks back, it only proves the need to throw rocks at them.

we can find the free speech of the opposition oppressive, and therefor, refuse to extend to them the tolerance we demand from them.

we can choose to elevate our fresh, and unproven, modern morality, to a standard, expecting the world to conform to. then be stunned when they bomb our cities.

western culture is neurotic, to bad its still our best choice.

When you allow millions of people into your home without any clue who they are or what they want....Bad things can happen.

Yeah. Native Americans will tell you all about that.

Every culture has it's flaws if we understand that every human is capable of evil. There are no innocent participants.

Except the Native Americans didn't have a sovereign nation. It was a collection of tribes that had been warring with each other for hundreds of years.

Let us not forget that that 'indians' had been selling their lands for trinkets and weapons before there was even a 'US' government. These people sold themselves into a corner, then, after realizing the mistakes they had made, decided to go to war with various governments, the UK being one. In the real world, war comes with consequences and land loss. To the victor goes the spoils. That is not to say that the opposition did not participate in less than worthy actions against indians, but once you enter into a war, expect losses if you lose.

And honestly, give it up with 'native americans'...they were more 'native eastern europeans'--'native asian'--'native south americans'. The dna doesn't lie, they migrated here just like western europeans did.

They did, just 10k years earlier, give or take a millennia. This was back when the sea between Russia and Alaska was a land bridge. We all migrated from somewhere, all originally from the Horn of Africa supposedly. We are a wandering species. :)

Question:

How long do you have to live somewhere before you can call yourself a native of that area? 10 years? 100 years? 10.000 years?

I think they've earned the rigt to be called native americans. Even if their DNA has markers from europeans/asians/africans/aliens.

The best we can do is maybe 'native'. This wasn't America until the western europeans put a name on it.

If you really want to get into the meat of the argument, the Vikings have more of a claim on North America than anyone. They have land claims all over Canada, New England and all the way out to the midwest United States. The claims are crude, mostly carved into rocks, but at the time that was enough.

The descendants of the people that migrated and eventually made up the communities of 'American Indians' shoulder most of the blame for their losses. They sold and sold and sold until war was their only option. Atrocities on both sides. Few remember that it was natives that initiated violent warfare. They fought the French, the Spanish, the British, and American settlers. Tribes and locals alike made deals they couldn't keep, cooperation across the board collapsed. We fought these wars since 1540, and the United States mopped up in 1924. Manifest Destiny kicked in and sure, some of the indigenous were treated very poorly, one would even say some war crimes were involved. But the ultimate point is, to the winner goes the spoils. American Indians really did have many, many chances to negotiate with our federal government for better terms. Some chose not to. Nobody was innocent and war is hell.

The only thing we can do now is learn from our past, and apply the lessons to our future.

My thoughts are that the spirit of antichrist is running rampant through the world, and has been for some time. What we deal with on a day to day basis are not battles against flesh and blood but against the powers of darkness and principalities. Have you not asked yourselves why all the civil unrest? why all the violence? We are living in the time known as the end of the age, my friends. Our time is running short. The time has come to repent and turn from your wicked ways.......to "today, if you hear my voice, do not harden your hearts."

America is going through a great tribulation right now. The ONLY thing that can save our great nation is GOD. You may say, I don't believe in God. Well, how can you not? Proof of His very existence is seen and demonstrated everywhere. Words printed in the text of the Bible are prophesies that are coming true, right in front of our very eyes. Yet, some are too blind to see it.

I guess what I am trying to say is that life can be very harsh and cruel. But then so was the life of Jesus Christ, who underwent every hardship and torment as we do in our very lives. We are supposed to pattern ourselves after Him and take up our cross and endure our faith until the very end.

People are mean. People are cruel. Life is harsh. Life is unfair. The world is unstable. People are unstable. Violence and hatred everywhere. I've even see such cruelties by people in this game in years. How can the madness stop? WE can stop the madness. ll we have to do is pray.

Putin,

Whatever any person wishes to post in a public forum is by their choice and right, as members and players in the Simcountry Community, as long as it is respectful to others.

I find you, Putin, both rude and disrespectful in your above post. I threw in my spill about conflict as it relates to God, end times prophesy, because it is applicable to the times and what we are undergoing and even the event in Barcelona and others across our globe. Of course, this is my personal belief, and I don't expect everyone to believe as I do, but I do expect others to be respectful.

The mere fact that you return to the game with a "new" name, and purport to be a player in the past, ughhhhhhhhhh I smell trouble maker and IT-dom all over the place. lol

And yes, I will echo the "thanks folks, great input" and MEAN it, because people responded........something that doesn't happen too often any more in the forums. Probably because of ITs like you, Putin.
