Andy | Thursday, November 20, 2014 - 03:04 pm The first version of the new Simcountry app will include the forum and chat. Both are third party packages and we are limited as to what can be done to run them as a part of our new app. They will remain largely in the same style for now but provide good usability on mobile devices. To get a glance at the forum as it will look like on the mobile device, you can resize the width of the forum window on your screen and reduce its width. It will switch to the new format. |
Lyudmil Vodenicharov | Friday, November 21, 2014 - 12:23 am So, when will the app is released? Call me T.Wo. |
Andy | Friday, November 21, 2014 - 09:20 am We hope to have a first version before the end of the year. maybe a little later. |

CLAUDIUS | Saturday, November 22, 2014 - 06:30 am How does the app enhance the game? |
craigwilliamson79 | Saturday, November 22, 2014 - 09:30 am It enhances the game by allowing you to use it on a mobile device more easily. I really don't think that's a very complicated concept. |
CLAUDIUS | Saturday, November 22, 2014 - 03:03 pm I already can access the game from my smart phone and tablet. I am typing this message from my smart phone. |
CLAUDIUS | Saturday, November 22, 2014 - 03:25 pm I received this message from a player named Khomeypeng. (Is he banned from the Forum?) "Re: It wont. If you use an android now, you pretty much get to do everything you could on a real comp except for war. I would be surprised to see anything new or useful out of an app." |
CLAUDIUS | Saturday, November 22, 2014 - 03:39 pm Here was my reply to Khomey: "I know. I can already use my phone or tablet to access the game. Also, I CAN go to war. I once fought a portion of my war from my my smart phone! I also transfer cash, transfer weapons, send messages, go to war protection, open corps and practically everything else from my phone or tablet although it is slower. I prefer using my desktop for everything and my tablet smart phone for maintenance when I have some free alone time. I really see no use for another app on my phone, tablet or desktop." I am not against the app. I will rephrase my original question. What new capabilities will the app offer that are not available now on my phone or tablet? That is what I meant by enhancing. |
Tony w | Saturday, November 22, 2014 - 03:47 pm Well I have to say, I own a Samsung Galaxy S5, for some reason I have alot of trouble when going to war on my smart phone. I am looking forward to the app in hope it will eventually get around the issue. Sure you can do these things on your phone with out an app guys... but let me ask you this, how many of you are running the face book app?? I mean... you could just go on to the internet on your phone and use face book, but I bet you use that app instead huh. If you agree with that.. then perhaps you should take a second view at this app. I expect it to be basic and honestly bad at the start.. but With time it will turn out to be a good move. Good work Andy. |
Borg Queen | Saturday, November 22, 2014 - 04:00 pm Well, before you add the chat to the app, how about a better placement of the chat in the game then it is now? 95% of the time I take a look in the chat, it's empty. |
CLAUDIUS | Saturday, November 22, 2014 - 04:07 pm I don't go on Facebook. In fact the only app I use is my camera, clock and BBC news app. As for taking a second view of the app. I still haven't gotten a first view. The app isn't out yet. I am interested in the app and might install it if it offers a better experience on my phone or tablet. I wouldn't have asked my original question if I wasn't interested. As for going to war, I didn't say it was easy. It is slower and depending on the war action, it at times can be cumbersome. |
CLAUDIUS | Saturday, November 22, 2014 - 04:15 pm Khomeypeng messaged me again and wrote: "Exactly. He needs to focus on making a better war engine that is enjoyable/playable/with reward than a gimmick." I don't necessarily agree that the app is a gimmick. However, I have to admit I agree with the rest of Khomeypeng's message. |
