Watch4Me | Monday, May 12, 2014 - 05:05 am Does anyone feel that way? I've played in 09 and i'm a returning player recently ago. I feel like SC has been lacking a lot in activity and interaction ex: wars, roleplay, etc ever since War Levels have been implemented. |
craigwilliamson79 | Monday, May 12, 2014 - 05:56 am It seems the trend has been downward. I don't know what the cause is though. |
Alterd Carbon | Monday, May 12, 2014 - 09:23 am Sim made these rules so new players could have a chance to grow before they were thrown into the mix the sad thing is that so many chose to hide there instead of playing the game at least on Fb. And don't get me started about free Wp on other worlds. To me its a pile of crap This is supposed to be a Rl simulation and to the best of my knowledge no country is immune to war. If people are afraid of war let them buy Wp if you want Wp then buy def enough to make the other fellow think 2wise. I would hope others agree |
Borg Queen | Monday, May 12, 2014 - 12:37 pm The biggest downward trend considering Forum-Activities etc. has been in my experience since the GC Trade between Players has been stopped. I've been playing on and off since before GCs been introduced, remember when Golden-Rainbow was announced to launch. I don't see WLs as a downer. I've been on both sides, the victim and the menace and even though this should be a RL-Sim it can't be considering wars. Why is that? Simply explained: Start a War in RL and kill Pop, use nukes, Chem Weapons etc and loose it you'll find yourself in a Court most surely coming out of that Court hanging on a nice little Rope. Do the same thing here and tell me what consequences could arise that are even close to that? |
leestar_104 | Monday, May 12, 2014 - 03:24 pm Has anyone got any statistics on how many active player there are now and before the war levels were implemented? |
craigwilliamson79 | Monday, May 12, 2014 - 06:46 pm I think Borg Queen is right. The lack of activity did seem to happen around the gold coin thing. I think a bunch of people just could no longer afford their empires. |
James the Fair | Monday, May 12, 2014 - 08:35 pm Both the gold coins trading alteration and the war levels are to blame for lack of activity on this game. Maybe making the slave countries unprotected and vulnerable to attack at all times may bring some players back, while having the main country protected at all times (which all us do anyway) Maybe if the game had some side jobs for us to do without declaring war, such as sneak attacks, stealing other countries cash and population etc. might make this game more active again. |
drys0013 | Monday, May 12, 2014 - 11:19 pm @borg. They will assimilate your computer in to the NSA spy program. Opps too late! You've been assimilated lol This is essentially a more text based game and I think it has more to do with more graphical war games and candy crush. I blame candy crush! Yes these issues spoke before caused some to leave. The attitudes caused others. The complexity cause more to abandon this game. I think it's more than g/c and war levels that is to blame. Simcountry, of course, would have done better in the past since before the phone based games took off more. I think people choose simple vs complex games more. lot of other factors at play. Now when is Simcountry going to get an app? Hmmm. Lol |
Borg Queen | Tuesday, May 13, 2014 - 12:08 am Why should our National Systematic Assimilation Drones try to assimilate the Collective they are allready part of? Your logic seems flawed. |
The_Wicked_Lady | Tuesday, May 13, 2014 - 05:24 am It is my observation that the "activity" in the game may not have necessarily gone down. I think most players prefer to stick to their own and not involve themselves in the forums and with other players because of the lunacy of some players and their bullying ways. The nonsense is blatantly clear in this game. And WhoEverYouAre, the war levels were a result of players like the very one you are federated with who bullied and tormented and warred less fortunate players. The very ones complaining about the game and how it is today are the VERY ones as to why there is no comraderie between players, no "visible" activity and so forth. If I were a new player and came and saw how you all cuss each other and act the fool........heck if I would invest money or time. If I did, I sure as heck would not involve myself with any of you nonsense players. I'd play alone and wish to be left alone. So Watch4Me, you should really do your research before you start knocking things in this game. I really do wish all of you luck and hope that Simcountry becomes again what it once was. It is up to you whether recruitment to the game will be successful. I will present this one perspective. I know lots of people in my professional and social life. Do you honestly think I would recruit them to a game where they can see on a daily basis me being called ugly names???? No thanks. If the game is to be successful, some of you need to clean up your acts. Just yesterday I was told by Alterd Carbon that I needed to vanish. So I guess only certain people are "allowed" to play the game. I would think you would want to recruit people, not run them away. |
The Why | Tuesday, May 13, 2014 - 05:53 am interesting yet cliched perspective from you wicked lady however inaccurate SC... is quite tame compared to most games both in terms of player to player verbal communication and actual gameplay wars.... people are the same no matter where you go WLs are terrible |
The_Wicked_Lady | Tuesday, May 13, 2014 - 06:17 am Well of course you aren't going to agree with me, Tbone, as you are one of the very players in which I speak against. Who has been banned from the forums of late? You have. Why? Cuz you go over the top and insult other players. Have your fun. I've smacked talked........BUT when you see that you are driving people away from the game, hurting others, be big enough to take a step back. It isn't alot to ask, is it??? I hope you come in to chat soon and have some fun. Would love to chat with you. I'm trying to rally support and communication in this game. Help me to do this. |
blah Blah | Tuesday, May 13, 2014 - 12:52 pm I like this game. Always have and there is a good change that i will for a long time. And yet i will never recommend this game to one of my friends. Leaving the whole graphic issue alone (although i honestly believe even a few minor things would greatly improve the visual aspect) there are severall things which i believe should be improved to get more fresh blood. 1. This game has a terrible user interface 2. There is no reason to interract with other people 3. This game is expensive when compared to all the high quality free games 4. The game is really complex and hard to learn and once you have learned 'everything' thats it. Your country can run itself without to much work. There is hardly any development of 'gaming growth' after that 5. This game has no real forum. Real game forums are moderated and are maintained. I can get a proper forum for a few dollar per month which looks and works a lot beter then this pile. The lack of moderators who do something about all the crap posted on these threads have driven me and many others away from here. I can keep this up but the essence is that this game has good potential but it lacks a lot of things people expect as standard nowadays. These aren't the 1990's anymore... Sigh... But i do love this game a lot... I'll just go back to my little pixels and make sure they all stay in line. |
Supreme | Tuesday, May 13, 2014 - 03:10 pm blah Blah, I agree with your assessment of the game.. SC has very good potential, it just need to catch up with the 21st century and everything would be cool. |
The_Wicked_Lady | Tuesday, May 13, 2014 - 03:59 pm Well I honestly believe that the GMs are trying to make improvements. With or without them, this game is by far one of the best I have ever played online, except for players like Wendy, Alterd Carbon and Watch4Me, who seem to think they can tell people to leave the game. I hate to burst your bubbles, but the GM has given me their blessing to visit the community any time I wish. Out of courtesy to the game, I did write and ask if it was okay, and the response was: "You can be here as much as you want." Now, if you and Alterd continue in this fashion of trying to tell me I don't belong here, and that I need to "vanish", I will lodge complaints to the GM that you are not doing the game justice by trying to run people away. Furthermore, it is NOT yours or Alterd's right to say anything about whether a player should be in the game. That, my dear, is a job of the Gamemaster. And until you become one.....SILENCE CHILD! What I find rather interesting is this. The ONLY ones who have any real objection to what I say are those VERY players who ruin the game for others. Go figure. Sorry, cupcake, I will speak my opinion, and to be quite frank.....I don't care if you or Alterd like it or not. I've played this game. I've spent LOTS of money here. I have been run off from the game because of numpties like you. So yeah, as someone who is degreed in Public Relations and Marketing, I am going to voice what I think is a VERY BIG problem in this game. YOU DON'T DO THE GAME JUSTICE WHEN YOU BEHAVE THE WAY YOU DO AND TELL PLAYERS TO LEAVE. I have been here a great many more years than you, child. You haven't EARNED that right. Instigator? No. Point maker, yes I am. My motives are good. What are yours? |
The_Wicked_Lady | Tuesday, May 13, 2014 - 07:42 pm Interesting how you seem to KNOW so much, returnee, you know having been gone for so long. lol If you have something to say, at least be original. You mimick all the other personas before you. We KNOW the game. And it is amazing how ALL the trouble makers seem to migrate towards each other. Associations are VERY telling. :P Actually, I think your posts are rather an eye sore and your avatar gives me a headache. So there! ha ha ha ha ha ha

Anthony King | Tuesday, May 13, 2014 - 07:45 pm The game needs more option for the single based player mode for the level requirements. I am stuck at level 4 for a single player mode with out CEO. It does needs to be revamped to make the player look forward to make more things to solve the game goals. |
The_Wicked_Lady | Tuesday, May 13, 2014 - 08:33 pm Hey Anthony King!!! Great to see you again! |
ian Cameron | Tuesday, May 13, 2014 - 11:22 pm @Altered, it is actually illegal for a country to attack switzerland. If say France invaded them, than every country is obligated to declare war on France(Nato) immediately. If Russia invaded them than all countries are obligated to declare on Russia (Warsaw). |
Roving EYE | Wednesday, May 14, 2014 - 01:21 am hey is one saying then that Switzerland on earth in REAL LIFE is like wanna them countries in simcountry that cant be counquered and all the others are nothing but TURDS?! HEY? |
The Why | Wednesday, May 14, 2014 - 02:14 am thats not very fair switzerland invaded lichenstein yet all these appeasers and wimpa roos did nothing did someone say SWISS HITLER?!!!!!! |
craigwilliamson79 | Wednesday, May 14, 2014 - 04:01 am I really don't know if there is some agreement promising to defend Switzerland...if so it is likely a very old one. Legality in an international sense is regarded by one side of experts as being very weak, to the point of being nothing much worth considering except in areas where a clear advantage in low-stakes politics are concerned (various conventions like the postal agreement) to being an incomplete work by another group of experts. Either way, international law has very weak enforcement mechanisms. There is no real body which can enforce any sort of prohibition on invasion. The U.N can't even prevent genocide and the ICC can barely ever prosecute international war criminals. Switzerland very rightly feared invasion by Germany in the early part of the war. No legal mechanism could have stopped that. These days, I highly doubt that Switzerland has any reason to fear, but that's really because of the shared norms and values in the region, rather than any sort of agreement. |
ian Cameron | Wednesday, May 14, 2014 - 12:28 pm "Due to its geographical location, the ethnic composition of its population, and its relatively minute territory, Switzerland has had to obtain neutral status in order to maintain its internal cohesion. The Swiss Alps serves to link Germany and France through the Italian peninsula, and throughout the country's history, its national territory has been coveted by surrounding powers. Declaring neutrality and being ready to enforce it was and continues to be the best means by which Switzerland can maintain national security. The Swiss population is composed of French, German, Italian, and Romansh speakers. These are the four official languages of the country, and they represent the diversity that existed within its borders for much of its history. In fact, in the late 18th and early 19th century, the nation was reduced to a vassal state due to internal disorder. It was Napoleon Bonaparte who, in 1803, restored order. With Napoleon’s defeat, however, the Swiss were determined never to suffer an invasion again. In 1815, the Congress of Vienna, consisting of major European powers who had convened to discuss international relations in the post-Napoleonic era, deemed Switzerland to be a neutral country. This neutrality was reaffirmed in 1920 by numerous countries. Once it joined the League of Nations, during the 1920s and 1930s, it was willing to take on the duties of member nations, thereby making its neutral status void. In the 1930s, however, the country regained its neutral status once it was relieved of these duties." |
maclean | Wednesday, May 14, 2014 - 02:22 pm Another reason is that switzerland has for many centuries armed its population to the teeth.Unless recent changes are in effect, one even had to carry a weapon of some sort to the polls, when voting (by tradition). One doesn't wonder much why Switzerland was able to maintain its neutrality in WW2, as the thought of trying to roust out thousands of pissed-off Swiss, heavily armed, in the mountains, even made der Fuhrer stop in his tracks. |
Watch4Me | Wednesday, May 14, 2014 - 06:37 pm Nice to see someone who agrees with me |
Zorbas | Wednesday, May 14, 2014 - 08:00 pm The activity and interaction ex: wars, roleplay, etc can be implemented using other sources, like blogs, federation forums or the abandoned wikia :P the forum and the site himself needs some update and a better contact between members, federations and better interface to make a better community the private messages is not enough, its very cold and "meh" |
Mute | Thursday, May 15, 2014 - 01:50 am Space being all GC based means it will never be a real important aspect of the game. The limitation on size of empires (no. of countries) really puts a cap on playing peacefully and the war game is just to damn involved for me with far too much to lose with far too much maintenance cost. I do like being able to play when I want without being subject to the whims of someone else. I do wish there were more opportunity to manipulate things within a country like the idea of rail freight fees and passenger traffic. There are a ton of possibilities for economic challenges within empires. the GM devote little attention to that possibility. there are all sorts of possibilities in running a country and an empire. I think the stock market is a mess. Just my opinion. So I shall just dawdle along fiddling with this game. |
craigwilliamson79 | Thursday, May 15, 2014 - 05:49 am Regarding Switzerland, I'm not disputing the history or the importance of neutrality... the terrain was certainly a factor in Hitler's decisions, as was their willingness to do business. But, when it comes to "international law", this really does need to be put in quotation marks. International law is a very shaky thing with lack of enforcement mechanism. Nations still act in their own interests and seldom act without some national objective firmly in mind. Altruism does happen, but frequently only for political reasons. So, not really much at all. Not to go all realist, but this is the simple situation we do find ourselves in. |
Alterd Carbon | Thursday, May 15, 2014 - 06:03 am I guess I need to comment as I was referred to many times in this thread. I'm not bulling anyone this is the game. Trash talk is not bulling its the game. I can tell anyone anything that I want. No one has to agree or do what I say. Its your keyboard. Some people play games of manipulation and when found out hate it and quit. That is understandable but even that is part of the game and after someone deletes themselves and still finds that they have a Forum to speak that's ok too But I as anyone else in the game has the right to say what I want except. Post Offensive materials to the site or the chose offensive names for countries, enterprises, cities or any other objects as well as all materials that are offensive to any race, gender or religion and any hate language or any Nazi names or pictures, racist and fascist texts and materials. As per Sim game rules all else is acceptable. I come from the war world so don't expect me to be kind when I see a threat. |
Alterd Carbon | Thursday, May 15, 2014 - 06:08 am As for the Swiss anyone that wants to declare war or invade them can. Just because its agenst international law does not mean it cant happen. |
Anthony King | Thursday, May 15, 2014 - 11:06 am You too Lady, its been a while and I have been changed too for the good. Its nice to see you again too. |
craigwilliamson79 | Saturday, May 17, 2014 - 09:59 pm Alterd...stop bullying me! I will say this though: Switzerland, the big bully Alterd is right. International law is...lacking enforcement mechanisms. It's a bit like a child telling people they can't walk on the sidewalk cracks. It's only a rule if you listen to the rule. And, in the world we live in, the international agreement is usually only followed when there is a direct benefit to the state to do so. |
WildStallion | Sunday, May 18, 2014 - 03:02 am It amuses me when people think they can be a bully to the little guy, so I guess in the game like I do in real life the bully will just have to be given a good pasting to keep them inline. |
