Agreed SuperSoldier. He betrayed his country and his fellow soldiers during war time.

Now lets say me & my partner perform a stop,he waltz over pull the guy out
for whatever reason the man puffs up at the fact he does not understand why we stopped
him so he's upset yelling my partner draws his piece and pops him bang bang!

Should i do what manning did and expose him as a cold blooded murderer or just say ah
well eric just being eric killing civillians.

Could he have done things in a better way yes he could have, but he was dealing
with alot of his problems,he was feeling shoved away because he was gay,
along with a few other issues but i don't how to take it im sorta torn on this case.

Bradley Manning blew the whistle on U.S. war crimes such as unjustifiable murders of non-combatants in Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Oman, Somalia and Pakistan.

The leaks do not include information that the U.S. might legitimately withhold indefinitely from the public. We're not talking about nuclear launch codes here, but stuff like the Iraq war logs that illuminate the day to day tactics of U.S. troops in Iraq.

The U.S. failed to produce any evidence that anybody was harmed or threatened as a result of the leaks.

I do not understand why those who support the verdict apparently want to live in pitiful ignorance of how their government manages its foreign affairs.

bsl - I don't have the time nor the desire to try to explain duty, honor and country to you. That doesn't mean our government is always right. The soldier does not set US policy or dictate its foreign affairs. It does mean that those of us who served this country took a sacred oath to defend the constitution. It means that we as brothers in arms never leave a soldier behind or take treasonous actions that endanger another soldier. It means we never give aid and comfort to our country's enemies. So you sit there and criticize our troops and idolize this traitor. Tonight there are thousands of real heroes on guard tonight in Afghanistan and a hundred other places that you never heard of that are protecting your right to be free to believe what you do. But before you criticize my brothers in arms why don't you enlist and serve a tour in the military. And when you come back from a year long combat tour in some place like Iraq or Afghanistan then you will have some real authority to talk about it. That is unless you come home in a metal coffin. So how about it?

I agree with jack

When i signed up i know what i was getting into. The Fact is he was upset with some shit which is a EVIL of war. Murder of civilians, rape, lies... They are PART of war, I don't like it but its a realization.

I dare you to find me a war which NON of those has been included. Point is he got mad and try to become a hero. His ACTIONS where somewhat honorable but the way he went about them was to letter WRONG!!!

The Info he gave was classified, when you sign your NDA(Non Disclosure Agreement), you SWEAR to not tell/share classified info, no matter the cost. Its part of being a soldier. He broke that rule. Even though it exposed a real evil to the public, it ALSO SLANDERED several platoons and even brought the actions of a few company commanders into question. Is it fair that because of a few bad actions over 1000 men are now watch listed?
Is it fair for their enemies get to know what/how they do there jobs?

I agree with jack, plain and simple hes a traitor.
If i cant trust you, how can i fight beside you. So next time you spill a load of BULLSHIT like that Big, remember if it wasn't for me or jack... You'd be speaking German.
And you sure as hell wouldnt be sitting at you PC safe and sound eating Cheetos at 2AM in the morning

As for me and Super it would have been more accurate to have said speaking "Russian." This would include our German friends where for more than 50 years American soldiers have stood watch at their border. And if you think Russia is different today then think again.

But if not for our American fathers and grandfathers the entire world would likely be speaking German or Japanese. Surely a good German would not support the wide scale atrocities committed by their former Nazi government and military forefathers any more than I would support the wrongs committed by segments of our government or a few American soldiers including this traitor.

As I said before our government is not always right. You get no argument from me on that. I could probably name as many examples as anyone else including Borg's reference to the NSA. But you need to separate those issues from the soldier - the 99.9% who do their duty in the worst of situations, who act honorably and who literally risk life and limb to protect us from the evil from without and within. Now go enjoy your freedom.

Coming from a country that suffered a 4 year occupation in WW2 during which about 10% of the population perished, I am eternally thankful to the Americans and the British for saving the free world. Coming from a country that bordered with 3 communist states (Albania, Yugoslavia and Bulgaria) from 1945 to 1989 I am grateful to leaders like Churchill, Truman, Ike, johnson and, yes, Reagan for protecting my country and my liberty through NATO.

Having said that I believe America has strayed away (especially during the GWB administration) from its values. I really hope that Obama leaves a better legacy because, lets face it, if it werent for the US it would be some other really worse scenario for the world.
