Andy | Tuesday, February 12, 2013 - 11:09 am 1. Ammunition Continued reductions in the base price of weapons and ammunition. This will again reduce the price of war. 2. Smaller Units Also this is continuing. The largest units are becoming smaller, large garrisons too. The cost of war will be reduced with smaller units being destroyed, and smaller numbers of weapons and ammunition needed. 3. Reducing the size of existing Units Some existing units are much larger than the new units that became smaller over the past months. we will start reducing the size of existing units if their total size is now larger than the max size of similar new units. Example: If a unit has 1500 weapons while a new unit can have only 900 to 1800 weapons, the unit will remain untouched. If however, the unit has 2500 weapons, it will be reduced. The reductions will be very small, 5% to start with. The quality of the unit will remain unchanged. and any surplus weapons will be returned to base and their quality will average (weighted average) with the quality of the weapons already stored in the country bases. 4. Space Some products are relatively expensive to transport. To make this more efficient, The space these products occupy on a cargo shuttle or in a docking station will be reduced. It means that more products can be transported each time on a single cargo shuttle and many more products can be stored on a single docking station. These changes will start on Feb. 14 and will continue for some time. 5. Quality of Supplies and the country welfare The quality of supplies the country is purchasing is influencing the welfare index of the country. That influence was increased last week and will be increased again tomorrow, Feb. 14. 6. Reduced cost The cost of health and education will fall a bit more over time and so will the contribution of the population to health and education. The money that is spared by the population by the smaller contributions, will be spent on some products that have seen weak market and will boost the corporations that are producing them. 7. Financial index We see some increase in the financial index in many countries. The reason for this is the improved ratio between income and cost in these countries. Although numbers have been reduced, the profit remained the same or increased some. The ratio of profit, relative to the total cost became higher, hence the increase in the financial index. (The profit remained while the cost is reduced). |
PhilinCt | Tuesday, February 12, 2013 - 06:19 pm I don't know what to put for Q ordering of my general products, I put 300 yesterday and that was a very bad idea. What should the ratio be, I want to keep my countries production at 123-4 or higher? |
Crafty | Tuesday, February 12, 2013 - 08:46 pm country product use quality is entirely different to corp supply quality Philin. Countries dont have a 'production' for it to be 123 or higher. I presume you mean welfare? The welfare is calculated from many indexes, not only what Q goods the country uses. The ideal country supply quality is an unknown as of yet. I would suggest you do a few experiments like many of the rest of us will be doing. |
Crafty | Tuesday, February 12, 2013 - 08:51 pm Andy, any weapons that you remove from oversize units or garrisons, would you please return them to their bases in a de-activated status, seeing as that is what you are effectively doing, de-activating them. This would really help the management of armies for those of us with considerable numbers of wings/garrisons/units etc. Thanks, Crafty. |
Andy | Tuesday, February 12, 2013 - 09:34 pm Some want to use these weapons in other units. we should not make this choice for anyone. Weapons cannot be moved back into units during war if deactivated. We would not like to reduce the number of usable weapons for anyone. removing them from the units is already a feature you could see as going too far and we were reluctant to do so. The repeated reductions in the units forced this function. |
SuperSoldierRCP | Tuesday, February 12, 2013 - 11:29 pm Andy Is it possiable to tell use the "Kind" of increase by buying higher Q goods? If i buy 300Q and my costs triple ill be paying 450B, i dout my nation will triple its income. Can you please give more info on this? I know im not the only one being hesitiant on update as theres not enought info on the around |
Laguna | Tuesday, February 12, 2013 - 11:44 pm Speaking of the Financial Index, They may be higher, but I still think they should just be a ratio between income and expenses. I'm saying this, because it is just an indicator pure and simple, like the business index, so it shouldn't be concave. I can understand that the health index is concave because of diminishing returns for hospitals, but not this. It's a matter of logic. With that said, the financial index was a function of two branches. There was one branch for those that had expenses smaller than 100B and another for those with expenses equal or larger than 100B. Is the break point still the same? If so, I ask that it be lowered to 25B or 50B, or anything between, given the changes to the game for the last couple of years. |
Borg Queen | Wednesday, February 13, 2013 - 12:16 am Laguna, as far as I can see the fin. index is linear beyond 100B expanses. I got about 112B expanses and 156B income and my fin index fluctuates around the supposed 139 |
Andy | Wednesday, February 13, 2013 - 09:04 am Supersoldier, An increase to Q300 in the country will also not triple the cost. There are multiple factors in the welfare. We already see some players increasing the quality they purchase and they will see if it has a positive result in their specific case. It takes time to materialize. This is a longer term shift that will result in the purchasing of higher quality products over time. |
SuperSoldierRCP | Wednesday, February 13, 2013 - 09:34 am My Oringinal Q is how much does it increase welfare and income? You just stated it does, you didn't give any real details on it so I was rather curious. Regardless of how much it will increase the total country cost will increase by a large amount will it be worth while? Plus higher welfare equals production but that also means higher salaries meaning increased costs. So sure it might not triple but it will easily double. My point and question was much of a benefit will it give? |
Crafty | Wednesday, February 13, 2013 - 01:35 pm Quote:Some want to use these weapons in other units. we should not make this choice for anyone. Weapons cannot be moved back into units during war if deactivated. We would not like to reduce the number of usable weapons for anyone.
1) You are making this choice by, presumably, returning weapons to bases as active. 2) Who's talking about weapons in war? Any player can re-activate inactive weapons anytime they like. The reduction in unit sizes will happen regardless of if in war or not I presume. You would not be making the number of weapons available less for anyone. All you will be doing is creating another stealth tax as it will cost the unwary president more to have these weapons sitting around active than in-active. |
Crafty | Wednesday, February 13, 2013 - 01:42 pm And Andy you say an increase to Q300 will not increase the cost threefold. How does that work then mate? 100 (120) Q costs $X and 300 Q costs $3X doesn't it? What would be really nice is if the quality of more products gave an increased benefit, say less usage. Like 300Q upgrades would last longer than 120Q, and other things I cant think of right now. The one I have seen I believe is shuttle maint units, it seems a flight uses less than a whole SMU if the SMU is of higher Q. Or is that my imagination? |
James the Fair | Wednesday, February 13, 2013 - 01:51 pm I agree with Crafty on this one. |
SweetPea | Wednesday, February 13, 2013 - 04:41 pm I just so angry I wanna fight, anyone? I'm just messing around lol. |
Laguna | Wednesday, February 13, 2013 - 06:25 pm It is linear after 100 now? Good. Then reduce the break point to anything reasonable and I'm a happy camper, because then the concave first branch does serve a purpose. It separates the inflated and artificial indexes of those getting boosters from those who don't. |
Arccuk | Wednesday, February 13, 2013 - 09:11 pm Andy, I note that that maximum quality of manually ordered products has dropped from 350 to 330 in this update - is this likely to reduce further in future? |
Andy | Wednesday, February 13, 2013 - 11:59 pm I am not aware of the exact numbers but the general idea is to have the max quality you can order, match the max quality of available products. If nobody produces above 330 why order at 350? |
Josias | Thursday, February 14, 2013 - 02:38 am in regards to the new 330q limit. because of the reduced max q that can be purchased, can the q of weapons and ammo in C3s also be reduced? |
Devils Halo | Thursday, February 14, 2013 - 03:25 am As of right know...I have noticed my financial index increase 11 points. I don't know if I am that good or it's the influence of the changes. Either way I believed it push my overall game score up enough to move me into second on the president rankings..Only time will tell.. |
SuperSoldierRCP | Thursday, February 14, 2013 - 08:44 am I 100% agree Josias Its stupid I have to buy all my weapons but C3 MAGICALLY POOF 100+ units and garrison at 500Q. Andy they need to come from the world market. taking all those defense weapons from the market would cause massive shortages and allow players to make money sell weapons. and would dramaticly increase the use of these corps. C3 shouldn't be allow to magically make units and garrison of higher Q then I can make let alone units of 500Q which are currently impossible to create(for reference of these Q and units please check war level 11 c3 war doc) Plus I love how I can't make stealth bombers on LU I have to ship them but C3 magically gain hundred in a split second |
SweetPea | Thursday, February 14, 2013 - 10:35 am But this is what you wanted Super. War levels were and continue to be such a wonderful idea. Your idea to rework war levels from 1 to 10 on Fearless Blue sounds even better. You're on the money. |
Andy | Thursday, February 14, 2013 - 02:02 pm Chasing ghosts? The quality of weapons did not change and was not reduced. Same for all other products. Q350 cannot be produced, Nor can you produce Q500. the only way to get weapons of Q500 is to upgrade them. C3 countries are created on the fly when needed at any needed level. As a compensation for the weapons and ammo that they get, we have always bought weapons on the market. Quality works just fine and nothing in the last upgrade has changed it. the only problem we have is the (slowly shrinking) gap between the quality produced and the quality players want to purchase. For weapons, buying at the max quality available now makes sense. for vegetables (and other consumer products): not yet but coming closer. For products used as raw materials only, the gap remains but it is smaller than before. For a small number of products, quality does not make sense yet(!). |
SweetPea | Thursday, February 14, 2013 - 02:41 pm Andy in some game news late January there was an announcement of rapid deployment units making an airbase immediately without the need to wait 12 hours in c3 countries. Has this changed because I can confirm that the construction of the airbase is not immediate from two separate c3 wars on WG. |
Andy | Thursday, February 14, 2013 - 03:50 pm We have checked and it worked. It has taken about 5 minutes after the entire unit arrived in the target country. It could take a couple of minutes longer. |
Crafty | Thursday, February 14, 2013 - 03:52 pm Lol, Wendy and her RDUs... |
SweetPea | Thursday, February 14, 2013 - 04:49 pm It arrived Andy yes. I declared war and delivered these Units to the target c3s some 8 hours ago. However the units remain as RDU's and have not created an airport. At the time I posted, they were still RDU's not airports. The country names are "Psycho_Honey" on White Giant versus "The Republic of Kolram" You can look for yourself. So if the deployment of an airport works for you, I guess the more appropriate question would be why is it not working for me? Is there something more that I need to do to make it construct the airbase? At any rate I'm supplying the country name in question so you can confirm this case for me and possibly fix whatever is wrong. Thanks. |
SweetPea | Thursday, February 14, 2013 - 04:59 pm Quote:There are no airports in The Republic of Kolram that you can use.
The date the war was declared is: May 31, 3030 The current World Date is: White Giant: Jun 21 3030 (This is a very long time 21 WG server time days, hours literally.) From the operations log of Psycho_Honey on White Giant.
Quote:Jun 03 3030 Hesperia has been dropped Jun 03 3030 Dekalb has been dropped
They have been in the country for 18 game days on White Giant and have not created any airports. There are two different units. This is happening in another country and war on the same planet, but I hope this is enough information for you to weed out the problem. |
Andy | Thursday, February 14, 2013 - 05:39 pm Thanks for the details. we will check the logs tomorrow morning. |
SuperSoldierRCP | Thursday, February 14, 2013 - 06:45 pm thanks Wendy, glad to see you like the ideas |
Arccuk | Thursday, February 14, 2013 - 07:17 pm @Andy I order several low price products currently to manually supply and achieve cheapest ASQ for CEO. I was still testing things out when this update occurred. If max order quality is reducing further in future, a heads up would be appreciated. |
SweetPea | Thursday, February 14, 2013 - 08:49 pm You are aware I was being cynical right, Super? Yep, and thanks again Andy. |
SuperSoldierRCP | Thursday, February 14, 2013 - 09:26 pm I glad you like the updates Wendy, if later you want economic help I'd be happy to take an aspiring new player like yourself and help educate you |
SweetPea | Friday, February 15, 2013 - 04:27 am Ha, because you are so successful at econ, eh? Who do you presume believes that, noobs and free players? 100 years of war protection serving you right huh? lol. |
Andy | Friday, February 15, 2013 - 09:14 am We have checked and found that it works but not immediately. the minimum time is 1 hour and it could take longer. This is an error and it is being fixed now. Thanks for you persistence. |
SweetPea | Friday, February 15, 2013 - 07:36 pm That is horribly different than what was announced in the game news. I am not sure how that is acceptable. Thanks for the fix though. |
Crafty | Friday, February 15, 2013 - 08:19 pm Instant airport - just add water. Maybe it hasn't rained in those countries for a while Wendy. ;) |
