Mobile Military Units

Mobile Units are military units that have several special features that make them superior to the regular army units in Simcountry.

In addition to the existing features of army units, mobile units have the following added capabilities:

1. Mobile units can cross any borders at all times even if war was not declared. When moving through a foreign country in peace time, the unit cannot attack any target in the country. When a country declares war against any other country, it cannot have any units residing in that country from the time of war declaration to the start of the war.

2. Mobile units can be loaded into cargo shuttles and can be transported to other locations or to the Crucis space station where it can be traded as an asset. The units can be used in war in any country on any of the worlds.

3. Mobile units are using only professional soldiers and officers. Weapons, ammunition and other materials are the same as used in regular army units. Mobile units can be set up when the player has the needed professional soldiers, officers and all the required weapons, ammunition, trucks and other required materials.

4. Mobile units can be upgrade to a much higher quality level. Although smaller in size, the units can become very powerful if upgraded to a high quality level.

Types of Mobile Units

Nine different mobile units will become available.

- Mobile Land Units Available now
- Mobile Missile Defense Units Available now
- Mobile Attack Units Available now
- Mobile Helicopter Wings Not available yet
- Mobile Interceptor Wings Not available yet
- Mobile Attack Wings Not available yet
- Mobile Stealth Bomber Wings Not available yet
- Mobile Auto Response Units Not available yet

Mobile Land Units

Mobile land units have the size of a brigade and include both attack weapons and defensive ones. The fighting quality of the unit can reach a level of 500 (600 on Fearless Blue). Weapon quality can reach the same levels. The total size of the unit is 400 weapons. The unit is manned by 3880 military personnel including 2820 professional soldiers and 1060 professional officers. These numbers will decrease in the near future.

Mobile Land Units can move across all borders. When entering a country that is not in war with the country that owns the unit, there is no possibility to attack any targets. The unit can move around the country and will not be blocked by any objects or local army units.

The country that is being crossed by such mobile units cannot attack the mobile land units unless it declares war on the country of origin but the country is not damaged in any way by the passage of such units. Mobile Land Units are unable to gain any data on the local defense and are not able to transfer any knowledge to their own country. Mobile Land Units are unable to cross the sea between continents.

Mobile Land Units carry more supplies than standard units and can be supplied by any supply units. The units are supplied with standard weapons and ammunition in the same way other units are being supplied.

Lost soldiers and officers who have died in fighting must be replaced by professional soldiers and officers. If these are not available, the units will not be resupplied, in the same way that they cannot be resupplied if the country does not have the required weapons, ammunition and other supplies that are needed for the unit.

Mobile Land Units can be loaded onto cargo shuttles. An entire unit can be loaded on a cargo shuttle and it can be moved either to a space center in a different country where the cargo shuttle can land or to the Crucis space station where it can be stored in a cargo bay that can store up to ten such units.

Mobile land units includes the following weapons:

Anti Aircraft Missile Batteries 40
Mid Range Missile Batteries 40
Anti Tank Missile Batteries 20
Defensive Missile Batteries 30
Defensive Missile Interceptor Batteries 40
Defensive Anti Aircraft Batteries 30
Heavy Tanks 80
Heavy Artillery 60
Heavy Armored Vehicles 30
Heavy Jeeps 30

Obtaining Mobile Land Units

Mobile Land Units can be built by any player who has all the necessary weapons, ammunition, materials and also soldiers and officers that are needed in the setup of such a unit. These include professional soldiers and Officers only.

Mobile land units can also be purchased on the Crucis space station. Units can be transported to the space station by players who are building them in their own countries. The owner of the Mobile unit can move such units to any of her countries and use it in any war. The units move including the professional soldiers and officers and do not need any local change to their structure before they become operational. If damaged or incomplete, the units will have only partial fighting power and need to be resupplied to return to their full capacity.

A (future) change in cargo shuttles will allow them to land in remote bases that are owned by their country or a country of a federation member. When the upgrade becomes available, it will allow cargo shuttles to transport mobile units, weapons, ammunition and supplies, to remote bases.

Mobile Missile Defense Units

Mobile missile defense units have the size of a brigade and include defensive missile batteries.
The fighting quality of the unit can reach a level of 500 (600 on Fearless Blue). Weapon quality can reach the same levels. The total size of the unit is 400 weapons. The unit is manned by 2400 military personnel including 1600 professional soldiers and 800 professional officers.

Mobile Intelligence Units - Not available yet

Mobile Intelligence Units are designed to collect military information about their surroundings. When clicking on the unit on the map, you will be able to get all the information about objects within a distance of 25 around the unit. The unit will provide full information about these objects including weapons, ammunition quality and the supply situation.

Mobile Intelligence units have the size of a brigade and include defensive weapons only. The fighting quality of the unit can reach a level of 500. The total size of the unit is 400 weapons. The unit is manned by 1300 military personnel including 1900 professional soldiers and 800 professional officers.

Supplies for Mobile Units

Mobile units use supplies in the same way other units do and the supplies must be delivered by the owner of the units. The units do not use any supplies, ammunition or fuel while they are stationed on a space station. They do not count as part of the army of any country and the soldiers and officers do not even receive any salary.

Once the units are transported to one of the countries owned by the owner of the units, they are treated as part of the army, they use supplies, ammunition and fuel and must be supplied.

Damaged Mobile units

Mobile units can be damaged in fighting and can lose some of their weapons and soldiers/officers. The units will be supplied with new weapons and soldier/officers only if the country has professional soldiers and officers that are not allocated to any other mobile unit and available supply units to deliver the goods.

If no professional soldiers or officers are available, the unit can receive supplies but no new weapons and its ability to function will be limited. The unit may be disbanded if its size is reduced to less than 25% of the original size.

Optional

Mobile military units are optional and can be used in addition to regular military units. There is no need for any player to use mobile units and it remains possible, in the same way as before the introduction of these units, to conduct wars with regular units only.

All existing army unit features remain unchanged.

The mobile units will be used by players who want to quickly transport troops around, land them from a cargo shuttle or from sea into any location and run wars in any place they want.

Doing this, they could use these units in wars across their empires on all worlds and will probably reduce the need for a full size army in every country.

Can you explain the 'from sea' bit please. The above states that mobile units can't cross seas. Is there to be some naval update to allow landing of these units?
