Friday, September 28, 2012 - 10:23 pm For those of you who have never heard, I will share one of my favorite ghost stories with you, called the Bell Witch of Tennessee. Some of you may have heard of this ghost if you saw the movie out in theatres years back with Sissy Spacek and Donald Sutherland, called An American Haunting. This is a story that I can remember my mother telling me as a little girl. Although, I have to point out that the story in the movie was quite different from the one I grew up with and is just one theory for the haunting. Today, you can visit the place where this haunting took place - a place called Adams, TN in Roberston County. The original homestead is no longer standing, but there is a family who lives on the land and gives tours of the cave, a site where the witch haunted. The family that was haunted, the Bell family, has a family cemetary you can also visit. As a newspaper reporter, I was fortunate to cover a piece around Halloween years back about this ghost story and other stories in Tennessee. I am posting a link for you to read about it. You will have to copy and paste it to your browser, as the links do not work here. http://www.bellwitch.org/story.htm It is important to note that this ghost is the only ghost story/haunting that the ghost killed someonone. Oh, I also know some of the family members of Kate Batts, the supposed witch. :P I would love to hear some stories from where you live, and hope you enjoy this one! I think I did a forum thread like this years back or either in my fed forum and heard of some awesome stories!!! I hope that you will share!

Saturday, September 29, 2012 - 08:30 am I have one, well, I have others but ill tell of this one. My grandmother past away a few few years ago. well a few days after she past away I was in the living room. I heard my youngest daughter "Nessy"(nick name) talking to somone. At the same time my oldest daughter and her friend where near her door and looked in, they came running down the hall way yelling, "there's an old lady in bed with Nessy!". I got up and went to her room. Nessy seemed like she was half asleep, as if woken up, i asked, everything ok? She said , ya, just talking to grand ma, where did she go?(she was 4 at the time), i just said, she had to go, now go back to sleep. Then I went back to the living room with the hairs on my arms standing on end.

Saturday, September 29, 2012 - 08:30 pm Thank you for contributing, Putter. *winks I've heard of lots of cases where deceased family members visit. I would be like you, freaked out, though. You know I am a catholic girl and went to private catholic schools. I remember being in the 8th grade when an overhead announcement came on for everyone in the school to pray. One of our catholic priests was performing an exorcism. So demonic possession and such freaks me out! The movie, The Exorcist, I can't watch. lol

Tuesday, October 9, 2012 - 04:46 pm I once had to sell a house because of a haunting , my wife refused to move back in with the kids , had to live there by myself until i sold it , was not nice . Windows would be wide open in the mornings , banging on the stairs like a heavy object being thrown down , whirpools in the bath , doors being opened , bed frame being tapped , hearing old radio broadcasts , noise of the washing machine when it wasnt on ? that one confused me and the feeling of something touching my face lying in bed . Funny thing is the house was built within 20 metres of part of the Hadrain wall remains .

Tuesday, October 9, 2012 - 06:02 pm If it was on the Scottish side of Hadrians wall I can easily explain that. It was the bottle of single malt every night before bed.

When i was younger me and my friends would go fishing , was a small place on Loch Lomond we use to stay at , to be honest we spend more time on the drink lol , any way it would always amaze me when i would go down for my breakfast and see the locals in the the bar drinking pints with whisky chasers . lol So how many here believe in ghosts ?

Tuesday, October 9, 2012 - 09:02 pm You ever seen one ? or spooky encounters ?
| |
Tuesday, October 9, 2012 - 09:51 pm I had an encounter with a little red rocking chair that mysteriously appeared flush against the back door of my aunt's home while I was there all alone. It was located next to the hearth of the fireplace. Night before my aunt encountered a similar experience. We never did account for what moved it. I was 27 at the time. I slept with my light on for years after that and to this day will not stay by myself at night!!!!

Wednesday, October 10, 2012 - 03:50 am Well .. there was a graveyard around here when I was a teenager that had a old headstone with something in the limestone that made it glow in a full moon. Some buddies and I went out there once to see it and while they were discussing what caused it, I looped around in the woods next to them and let loose with a coyote call I had which made a sound like a screaming rabbit which sent them hauling ass. I was laughing so hard I was about to choke when I heard something coming at me from deeper in the woods and as I turned saw what looked to be two glowing amber eyes about 4" apart. I beat them all to the truck. Guess you had to be there

Wednesday, October 10, 2012 - 04:48 am Just like that small percentage of people that can see dead people (they're out there). Unfortunately I was cursed, or "blessed" (according to my friends) with the highly developed "sense" (if you want to call it that) of feeling that someone or something watching you or standing behind your back in a room. Its torture really and many people "wish" they could see ghosts or feel them, THEY HAVE NO IDEA, I mean I have enough with feeling them but looking at them?? No thanks Whatever ghosts are composed of, I can feel their eerie presence whenever I enter "their" dwelling perimeter, for example a house, a room or an empty lot. maybe where they died, or they like it there? The experience of "detecting" them is not enjoyable, you feel the hairs on your back stand on edge, an endless feeling of "goosebumps" and when those buggers decide to follow you, a heavy feeling on your back. This is experienced more during night time and when you are alone. Though if I am in a group that is fearful or fighting a lot, the feeling gets more intense. In extreme places, when you're alone and at night, something specific starts to happen (like the rocking chair of Lorelei or the Banging on the Stairs of Mantoarms). So if living one day of paranormal activity is enough for you, try living with it... Oh the most intense story on me is about shadows and not ghosts, though they may be the same, we were living in our apartment in Frankfurt, it was nice and we really liked it there, until a "shadow" took the pleasure of coming out at night after the 4th month of living there, it got confidence or I don't know what.... At first Charlotte thought she was seeing things, it was quick she used to tell me. I didn't believe her, for I would've seen it or at least sensed it, but still she told me it was there. It wasn't until one night I went to the kitchen, that I saw that human-shaped dark vacuum standing right in the centre... and the street lights illuminated everything without the need of light. I couldn't turn the light on... I ran back for Charlotte and we left that night. I swear I could've burned our home down. We never came back and I sold the place. Afterwards, I made some research and found this beautiful page which made me believe I wasn't crazy lol. But yeah that was my most extreme personal story. Happy Hauntings! Here's the page in case you are interested, turns out they're called "Shadow People": http://home.comcast.net/~shadowpeopleorg/shadowpeople.html

Wednesday, October 10, 2012 - 06:02 pm In reference to Wolfie's quote: "Just like that small percentage of people that can see dead people (they're out there). Unfortunately I was cursed, or "blessed" (according to my friends) with the highly developed "sense" (if you want to call it that) of feeling that someone or something watching you or standing behind your back in a room." Thursday, October 11, 2012 - 04:16 pm Either way, they gots teeth and bite!!! YIKES! he he You know I tried to go back and find my little red rocking chair story that I posted, I thought last year, but I couldn't find it. It was lengthy and I am just too old and feeble now to type all that. lol I forgot to add that several years after that, the house burned down. All I could see was a part of the arm of the little red rocking chair sticking out of the steaming mist of burnt rubble. :P Not really. ha ha ha The house did burn down... but the chair was gone. lol I always think this adds a neat lil touch to the story. ha ha ha
