Wow, man.

I recommend you the in-game war documentation. It's very explicit on this point.

There is probably a purpose to it, but I'm not as motivated to find out over how to to make corporations profitable.

Its because apparently at one time apparently the vets of this game were running wild and attacking every newb that entered SC!? Or at least that is my simplified version of the events that took place.

sbroccoli shutup everyone knows war levels are bogus

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE GM WE HAVE SECURED MODE WE DONT NEED WAR LEVELS THEY ARE A PAIN IN THE ASS

ive played this game for idk a year or two and im still war level 1 and pissed about it because i cant war with anyone and renders half the game pointless federations pointless armys pointless diplomacy pointless alliances pointless non aggression pacts pointless...actually is there even a tangible reason to go to war...no there isnt

idrc though because ive found out through observation that the war game is crap in itself so why play it anyways :)

I can see a couple of people worth warring, but they are all under war level three. So they don't need any military at all to protect their 100mil people per country.

I can deal with that I guess, but war level 3 opens pandoras box, you can never go back. Players are not allowed to try the war game realize they just want to be economical without becoming vulnerable,. So think hard before you decide what you want to do. Andy has made it very clear that though everyone is against them they are here to stay

I still dont fully buy into the newbs being attacked reason. I had a couple of disputes yes, but I had diplomacy, I didn't mouth off at vets thinking I could get away with it. They can now and know they get away with it. I also had a good fed, Laguna as chair. And good allies, (sam and jason, LDI for those of you who remember them).

The game was and is advertised as part war game, aren't they all? As said, no need for feds, allies, diplomacy and so on now. The game was about people competing against people (war ways and economically), but now is mainly you against the programming. I miss that personal interaction, but I wonder what newer players who never knew that side of the game would think of it if it were to return?

So in fact everyone DOES know what they are for, but just likes to pretend they don't.

Cheers!

Crafty, I think we have all of ourselves to thank in part for where the game is today. But in all honesty, I am sensing that the game is under perhaps new management with a new vision of where they want the game to go. The Simcountry that you and I played years back just doesn't exist any more, I'm sorry to say. The best that we can do as players is recreate the spirit that existed back in the day. Learn how to adapt to the changes and how to play as teams of players in federations and how to combat the war level restrictions, pardon the pun. I am up to the challenge.

Mainly cuz I have some breakfast foods to kill! :P lol

There was wolf packing for sure. I remember that clearly from back when I joined the first time. About 7 (?) years ago.

In some worlds, however, there was also a self appointed peace-keeper. A player who had been around for ages and accumulated massive, massive amounts of weapons. He would blunt any attack that he didn't approve off by assisting the defending side. One arrogant SOAB if you ask me, but I don't know if he's still around?

well, right before war levels, those guys that sat at the top of the hill, and decided who could, and couldn't go to war... well they were successfull enough, for long enough, that they grew complacent. and for the most part, any one that wanted to attack another player, was instantly classified as a bad guy. it created an ugly enviroment for any one that actually wanted to play the war game. and peaceful players got to expect to survive with little or zero defense, while still dominating the charts.

this lasted long enough, that their where only something like a dozen real war players left in all simcountry. and the inevitable happened, 2/3s of them got together, and attacked one of the former Peace Defenders, and slaughter them, in a matter of hours... thats when the idea of war levels where introduced...

the basic concept of war levels is good. and the rules for them must remain strick, in order to have the desired effect. unfortunately, they effectively destroyed not only the war game, but the political game.

I have an inquiring mind. Who were the 2/3rds? The ones who are responsible for the imposition of war levels as a result of their slaughter???

Yeah, I started to type a name or two of people who still play, but thought better of it.

Discretion is the better part of valour.

Smokes has probably got some waitress over the managers desk. Haven't heard from him in a while myself.

I dun blame anyone really. Can't blame those who loved war and for doing what they paid for and enjoyed doing in the game. I just like annoying Josias, he gets so mad at me. ha ha ha ha

You know I have no discretion, I'll blurt out anything and everything.

JOSIAS DID IT!!!!!! ha ha ha ha LET'S ALL THROW SHOES AT HIM!!!!!!

Jason, you sound like a Brit wif that "spot on" business. ha ha ha ha
