Inanna (Little Upsilon) | Tuesday, March 20, 2012 - 04:40 pm Quote: Investment funds are now allowed to purchase shares in a limited number of corporations. The change is intended to reduce the number of share holders in a single corporation and have larger share owners instead of hundreds of very small share owners that added nothing to the functioning of Simcountry. The unlimited number of share holders in a single corporation resulted in many long screen; slaw and complex processing. The trigger for this change was an ever increasing numbers of share holders records and the slowing of share trading processing across the worlds. The trading process that drives the investment funds will stimulate the sale of very small holdings and reinvestment of the funds in increasing the share holding in a smaller number of corporations. This will be an ongoing process that in time will reduce the number of share holders per corporation.
I think you forgot to include the number of the new limit. How many corporations will Investment Funds be allowed to hold a share in? 500? 1000? |
Kitsune | Tuesday, March 20, 2012 - 07:14 pm I hope it's not too limited, at least not for player-owned-and-manually-controlled investment funds. I like to use my IFs to hold shares in my public corporations so other players can't take them over... |
nix001 (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, March 21, 2012 - 03:04 pm From game news doc: 'The trading is now changed and is started each time after the month processing is completed, and continues without any break until the next month processing starts.' Is this saying that I should IPO at the beginning of the month when the processing is being done to avoid auto funds? If so, like with the war engine, how do I know when the month has started as the game date is not the true game date? Example: The game graphs tell me is April but the game date tells me its June. |
Andy (White Giant) | Wednesday, March 21, 2012 - 03:31 pm How many different fund share holders can one corporation have: The number is temporarily set to 50! It could be low but will increase in a couple of days, depending on changes we see. Today, FB had 750.000+ share owner records. This is far too many for the 2500 public corporations. (Average of 300 share holders per corporation). We want to see the small Fund shareholders selling their shares and instead, increasing their share holding in other corporations. This limitation only applies to Investment Funds. Investment funds can hold shares in several hundreds corporations. This is unchanged. |
Andy (White Giant) | Wednesday, March 21, 2012 - 04:18 pm The month processing starts 4 times a day on WG and GR. 6 times a day on KB, LU and FB. It seems that once countries are being processed, there will be some, but very little share processing. This takes an hour to two hours. Then, everything will process very quickly and keep doing so for several hours. During this slow trading period, very few transactions will take place. Both manual and all automatic fund transactions. |
Inanna (Golden Rainbow) | Thursday, March 22, 2012 - 07:37 am Andy, maybe I was unclear. Sorry. I was asking what is the limit for Investment funds. What is the Maximum number of corporations that an individual Investment Fund can have shares in? 500? 1000? You told me how many shareholders a corporation could have which is a very different question. Thx. |
Andy | Thursday, March 22, 2012 - 08:34 am An investment fund can have 350 different shares. The limit is enforced with some delay and the number is probably between 350 and 400. We are now trying to push the funds harder to sell very small holdings if they have them for a game year and were unable to reach a higher percentage (>0.5). This way, the funds share pages will hopefully become shorter and have higher percentage of shares in a smaller number of corporations. |
Inanna (Fearless Blue) | Thursday, March 22, 2012 - 07:53 pm Thx, makes sense now. |
