Please could someone help me raise my defence index as it is only 17 and 25. I have bought weapons and made air wings etc but still dont seem to raise it much.

Is there aomething in particular that I can do to raise it significantly without wasting alot of money???

Thanks for the time to help me.

Dismantle the airwings and your indexes will rise. Deployed weapons dont register on the index's for some reason. Dont ask me why. That's why your buying weapons and its not rasing indexes.

If you give me advice and then say,"don't ask me why", I wouldn't count it as very good advice. If you don't understand why one action causes another you should try to find out, and if not, then don't ask me why. lol.

Interceptors don't have as high an effect as missile interceptor batteries. You should buy those instead of interceptors, unless of course you are buying interceptors for a different reason.

The question wasn't why doesn't deployed weapons effect the indexes. If it was I'd have stayed quiet obviously. The advice I gave is most likely his problem. Take it or leave it.

It's left. :S

Although that wasn't the question, you made it the answer. The opposite is true. The type of weapon deployed or not, is the problem.

Do both.

"Dont ask me why" was me having a moan rather than literally meaning it anyway. They should effect the index's. Its not a true reflection otherwise

"Interceptors don't have as high an effect as missile interceptor batteries. You should buy those instead of interceptors, unless of course you are buying interceptors for a different reason. "

Which is weird youd think they have more of an impact. Since they are the Primary defensive weapon/main fed weapon. You think theyd be higher

You mis-interperate SS. MIBs are not more effective or "have more impact", they just are the best 'value for money', have more bang for your buck, in increasing the DI because of cost and ammo used keeping them, along side radar planes which are actually more influential on the DI, and use no ammo, but do employ significantly more personel.

I'm sorry but Akkadian is wrong. Weapons in units do count towards your defence index. They count just the same as weapons in the country stocks. I doubt Justin will see his defence index rise by dismantling his units.

Justin, different weapons give you different defence index points. They also take different amounts of workers which could alternatively be employed in corporations and need different amounts of training ammunition. Thus the more weapons you have, the less profit you will make, whichever way you do it.

As SS says, the best weapons per point for the fewest workers are Missile Interceptor Batteries. Defensive Radar planes take more workers, but don't require ammunition. It's your choice.

Concentrate on defensive weapons though. 50% of their points count towards your DI. With offensive and strategic weapons, only 25% of the points count. If you sell any offensive weapons you have and replace them with defensive weapons, your DI will go up.

However, if you need the DI points to get to the next level, remember that soon they won't count. The GMs are gradually phasing in War Levels and phasing out defence index as a level indicator.

I had no increase whatsoever for dismantling my troops...
I am still waiting for my MIBs to be delivered though so hopiong to see improvement soon.

Jo, do you know when the phasing out will start?
I am only asking as it may be easier to get to level 4 using the DI than going down the peaceful route as I dont think I will make an extra 1.5t anytime soon.
I dont have a war level yet anyway. When I started playing this a few weeks ago I tried to attack non president neighbours but didnt make much of an impact and decided to save my money :-)

I'm sorry, Justin, but I don't know the timeframe planned for the phase-out. Perhaps the GMs can tell us ...

Akkadian, there will have been something else that caused your index to drop. Did any weapons in your stocks deactivate at the same time as you deployed? Deactivated weapons only count for a quarter of the points that active ones give you, but then they only use a quarter of the workers.

Akkadian, remember each military base can only hold so many weapons, 20K I think it now is. So if you re-activated and went over that limit many will have been de-activated and your DI would drop. Same if you didnt have enough MLM or LLW.

Your right guys that's what it's been. I wasn't paying attention to the deactivated weapons. I was making garrisons and just presuming it was them dropping the indexs. Thank you's.

You buy them via the trade page. They are listed under Defensive, Offensive and Strategic Military Bases.
