i recently had a near death expierience. they say i barely beat the Widow Maker. but that aside, i've had time to reflect on my life. i've seen alot of crazy things and would like to share those with you, and ask for you to share what you consider to be the craziest thing you've ever seen as well.

i guess the craziest or wildest thing i ever saw was when i reported for my first duty station over seas while in the militaty. as i approached the barracks, a wall locker was being shoved out the 3rd floor window. thought it was funny till i found out the 1st LT was in it. that made 2020 back in the 70's. the LT did die by the way.

what happened to you palerider, and btw, what happened to the people involved in the murder of the LT? myself, nothing like that, i was 6 years old on a bike and was hit by behind by a car. Tore my liver by going over the handle bars. think i was in hospital for about a month. i dont remember much, other then the paper said that all my teeth where knocked out, but in fact it was an indian corn necklace that had brokken on impact. I have a large scare on my stomach and a small one on my side, and a small chipped front tooth that reminds me of that day. Gusse thats the closest ive been to death. As far as seeing anything wild, hmm, nothing comes to mind, perhaps seeing a porta potty being tipped over while some poor bastered was in it. some minor fender benders.. but nothing compares to what you saw.

Wow Homerdome, that sounded bad. glad you're still around to talk about it. would like to hear more about the porta potty tip'n over. that sounds like something i'll lay awake and think about. and i don't remember exactly about those guys that killed the LT. 2 or 3 guys. 1 got life and the other 1 or 2 overdosed right after. if memory serves. the LT made some bad judgement calls while under fire which costed squad members lifes. they in return, made thier on judgement call. it was a common practice back in those days to FRAG.

and what happened to me. that's something i wanted to warn others about and glad you asked Homerdome. i'll admit. i'm a badass, perfect health, perfect life, yadayadayada. or so i thought. but anyway, i'd been have'n chest pain and numbness in my arms for 6 months maybe a year. i don't have time for this i think. it'll go away or kill me i joke to myself. so i have a heart attack. but according to the doctors, had i been checked out at the start of those problems, i wouldn't be faceing the widow maker. i was in alot of pain while they were telling me this so i don't know what all was said. but i would advise everyone to get those problems checked ASAP. i'm less than half of what i was, but it's cool. i'll be out there before long again. i know me. you can't stop a machine. hehehe...

got another wild one for you. don't remember the date. late 70's, early 80's. as a member of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force/Counter Terrorism. we were sent out. we never were told where or why, only given mission objectives. this particular one was to destroy a supply convoy. but anyway, me and this one guy are pinned down behind a log. we're not going anywhere soon so we start to talk. i don't recall anything about where he was from or anything about him. i do recall how we both wanted to start our own mercenary company and i did tell him i was from Blackwater. he liked that name alot and wanted to use it. i've often wondered about that.

@ PaleRider: I honor everyone who is in the military, or serving as security forces. My cousin, who I grew up with and was "blood brother" to, is in the Navy. Works as a SEAL support team. I guess my only near=death experience is when I was about 22, and we were planting soybeans; I fell off the planter and landed in front of it, and got dragged for 50 yards or so. The only thing that saved me was that the dirt was very soft, otherwise I would have died horribly.

I'm sorry to hear that Pale Rider. I haven't had a near-death experience but I have had one moment.
Scariest, most life-changing moment of my life was when I was 12, and I was in the backyard, when a stone was propelled out of a lawn-mower and slammed into my left eye. After that, I had eye-surgery for a cateract. I believe it to be my most life-changing experience of my life simply because before so, I had perfect vision. Afterwards, I had (by a replacement of the lens in my eye) reduced vision. I had never before experienced such a dramatic thing as that. It taught me to never take anything for granted (clique, i know) because it can be taken away at any time.

great stuff guys. i appreciate it. but it doesn't have to be about death. just something that's stuck in your head. big or small. maybe you met "The Rock" or you took a piss off a building and soaked someone below. or you saw that happen. those things i mentioned were early parts of my life that were stuck in my head. i kinda thought they were funny. i still want to hear more about the porta potty tip over. got all kind of visions going through my head about that. hehehe....

A friend and I were getting mugged at gunpoint in Hollywood (as you do), as Starsky and Hutch screamed round the corner and got out, the perps scattered. Being a bit worse for wear, I shouted as loud as I could - "FREEZE!".

And you know what? Two out of the three did freeze and got nicked.

LMAO. I'll never forget that.

My story doesn't come to the same level as many of those here, but it was a scary experience as child.

When my brother and I were about 9 and my sister was 7, my grandma lived with us. I think she would have been in her early 60's. My mom had gone to work really early one morning and my dad wasn't home form work (he worked 3rd). We overslept so my grandma was taking us to school. Well, her car wouldn't start, but it was a stick shift. We had seen my dad help push start cars before so we told our grandma thought we could do it.
My brother sat in the front seat and my grandma stood inside the front door, with it open, so she could see my brother's feet and tell him when to pop the clutch. My sister and I pushed from the front of the car. Here was our mistake! When we got the car moving fast enough, my grandma told my brother to pop it and he did. The car revved on, but no one said to hit the brakes. So, with my brother pushing on the gas, the car sped up---with my grandma still inside the open front door.
The door ran over her, knocked her down, and dragged her a few feet before my brother got the car stopped.
Mind you, were 9 and 7. My grandma ended up being knocked around, pretty scratched up, but okay. Nothing broken or anything, but it was a pretty scary few minutes for some little kids who thought they killed their grandma.

Now, I haven't pushed started a car in years. Needless to say if I ever did, I would make sure we pushed the car FORWARD if someone needed to stand inside the front door like that.

@ Crafty: That is a good one, it would almost be worth getting mugged to be able to see their asses freeze on command like that. Fortunately, I am allowed to pack heat, so their last remembrance woud probably not be "FREEZE" but something a little more harsh...
@Zentrino: I had an experience like that when I was a kid, but it was just me and my brother. scared us spitless for a while.
