Has anyone else been frustrated by the crash in the price of cargo shuttles?

I can't sell mine without taking a 35% loss on the price of each one.

Exchange rate: 1GC = 198B SC$
Contract sale price of shuttle with 2,542 missions on LU: SC$ 1,004.42B
Value on portal market at 774 missions/shuttle: 3.28 GC = 649.44B SC$
Loss: 354.98B SC$ per shuttle

We are burning to few shuttles in space trade. Docks req for buying and selling (for buying its stupid...) does set a limit for how much trade is possible. Right now it is a bug over-supply. I buy a few time to time to add to my stockpile. But not even my contribution will be enough to absorb many player selling of shuttles the same time.

Long term, shuttles will be quite valuable, but atm there is a market imperfection.

Frustrating, but understandable. My investment in the Cargo Shuttle market is fortunately limited and I have now mothballed my corp until the market picks up. Press release follows:

"The commercial council of [RHG Orbital Systems] thanks you for your esteemed visit but regrets, that the [company] is temporarily closed for business. Thank you. If you would care to leave your name and the address of a planet where you can be contacted, kindly speak when you hear the tone.

"We would like to assure you that as soon as our business is resumed announcements will be made in all fashionable magazines and colour supplements.

"It is most gratifying, that your enthusiasm for our [company] continues unabated, and so we would like to assure you that the guided missiles currently converging with your ship are part of a special service we extend to all of our most enthusiastic clients, and the fully armed nuclear warheads are of course merely a courtesy detail. We look forward to your custom in future lives... thank you."

Bonus points + mucho kudos to those who know where that (slightly edited) quote comes from.

I have a bunch of cargo shuttles in my closet.

I'm waiting for the gamemaster to automate space trade.

Charge me a fee for shipping between worlds and call it a day.

Leave the space shuttles for the still unreleased space wars.

Cheers,

Maestro

Yep Crafty, Dix0n & NiAi. It's from the altogether brilliant Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy (H2G2) by the supremely funny Douglas Adams.

Skip the film, but make sure you read the book & listen to the BBC Radio shows (the plots of which don't match so each can be considered 'the original').

Read the book, ignore the sequels.

I absolutely love the original BBC radio show. Its beyond good. I cant recall a better radio show at all!

But aye,the later books are... weird(er).

The radio show was first and, as such, is the 'definitive' version. The first book arose from that a year later, then the TV show, all of which were good, but progressively lost something from the original, IMHO.

The less said about the 2005 film the better, apart from 'eurghhhhh'.

Heh, I still have the radio programmes on cassette.

I guess I could identify with Arthur Dent at the time :)

Yay! We just need a sperm whale now and we have a complete set :)

Anyone identify with the whale?

That depends ...

Is the ground approaching you very fast, and are you wondering whether it will be friends with you?

In the meantime, I'm still coming to terms with a mental image of Crafty as a paranoid android and Open Sesame as a bowl of petunias. I think I need a towel ... :(

Simple choice now: Keep shuttles or sell them at a large loss.

The market is well and truly flooded.
