Dear Veteran players,

Here is an open invitation for veterans to share some of their military knowledge. Talk about one or two particular military units and how best to use them.

Cheers,

Maestro

Land to Sea Missile Batteries:

These are basically the only offensive weapon you will ever need. A true war veteran will have many, many of these in stock. In most cases they are even more useful than Seal Units, but not quite as devastating as Mid Range Missile Batteries.

To maximize their use, you will need literally DOZENS of these bad mammajammas. They are effective against nearly ALL weapon types* and will cripple the military plans of all master strategists.

Known users of L-2-S Missile Bats are:

Hezzy,
LH,
jpopziclle33,
jameslovesscrodie,
CraftyCockney,
Klarina,
and many other glorious users!

NUCLEAR DEFENSE BATTERIES -

Garrisons should be comprised entirely of these, as
they can use nuclear warheads to destroy incoming
enemy units. These will be essential for an
impenetrable defense, as even the most experienced
players armed with quadrillions of assets, a VISA,
and 24/7 internet access have been thwarted
repeatedly by countries well-stocked with thousands
of NDB.

MID RANGE MISSILES:

This is for everything. It is the Tabasco
sauce of offense. If you fail to employ these
in any one attack or unit, you will fail.

Despite the name, they have unlimited range. Your
influence will stretch across the world if you use
Mid Range Missiles. If you buy them at 350Q, they
come with EMPs which disable Interceptors, Helicopters.
Furthermore, if their quality is
higher than that of the enemy's NDBs, they will
even evade the atomic blasts aimed for them.

In my own experiences, I have come to the conclusion that an idiot with nukes is a most terrible situation which could threaten new player and veteran alike.

With that said: Myself being an even bigger idiot than the idiot mentioned above and having a stupendOus amount of nukes totaling in the range of thousands(not counting chems, no exaggeration)... The best military advice I can give anyone is to avoid idiots with nukes, lo and behold, they are a terrible acquaintance and should not be provoked to anger. For if their weapon quality outmatches your own, you may just make the papers.

Luckily for the children of simcountry I will be leaving eventually. I don't play anymore, I tire of endless country maintenance, and the hypnotism and euphoric effects of red screens and mushroom clouds have lost their luster. I have contemplated letting all my nukes die with my account. Over my simCountry career I have annihilated many hundreds of millions of populations, totaling past 1 billion and maybe up to or surpassing 2 billion Sims. I've lost count over the last few years. My crimes against sim humanity have been recorded and the cries of the blood of sim-children has reached the game gods whereby they limited the range of the mighty Strat Bomber, a most evil bastard of a weapon. So, I may just retire that dusty old radioactive stash.

Every night, I polish my red rocket. Got to keep those missiles shinny and in working order.. :) A weapon not in use is a useless weapon. Lol

yep, you need at least 500 NDB in a garrison, especially for forts. And remember to have plenty of missiles for them ready. A couple of hundred each.

If you think that there is some sort of marginally useful role for Light Tanks or Light Artillery, you'd be wrong no matter how creative you got with them. There is absolutely no circumstance or consideration where they might have something positive about them. They are equally the worst weapons in the game.

There are several other terrible, useless, redundant, outclassed, and all-around pointless weapons that would be better off deleted entirely from the game to deter poor investment in military hardware - although even these will generally have some kind of consideration that is marginally useful and highly specific if you get EXTREMELY creative and completely ignore some aspect of efficiency (time, money, workers). However, Light Tanks and Light Artillery are matchless monuments of foolish design that utterly lose to their nearest competitors - Jeeps and Armored Vehicles. I cannot get over how meaningless their existence within the game is. Their point can only be to WASTE the money of players.

Is that helpful?

So many veterans want war or have the option of war.

So feel free to share a small piece of your military wisdom with inexperienced newer players here...

In all of my war games, I build up a money-printing machine first and watch the money roll. This way, I don't have to optimize everything in war. Unless, of course, you are playing a turn game. There you either go in with guns blazing or build up a nice defense, waiting for the money to pour in. It depends on the other side does, after all.

Very important strategic tip:
Ignore the peasants, go straight for the virgins.
