Scarlet (Golden Rainbow) | Saturday, July 2, 2011 - 05:26 am Interior Directorate Report #255473 Earthdate: 22062011 Subject: Response to request for the appearance of Saint Bradley Ybarra at state ceremony celebrating the anniversary of the first mortal in space Enclosed: Final journal entries. Overview: A native of Kebir Blue's Centura Donna region, subject, Saint Bradley Ybarra, was pilot of the cargo shuttle Belasmo on the christening flight of the Scarlet Space Program, and consequently, subject was the first sim-man in space. Subject was awarding Sainthood in the Scarlet Police State for earning international recognition for the Rudlander homeland. After suffering a nervous breakdown, subject was institutionalized in the State Hospital #78 on Kebir Blue. Following the collapse, abandonment, and evacuation of the Kebir Blue colonies, subject was relocated to State Hospital #2 on Golden Rainbow. Observers reported increasingly heretical statements. Several weeks ago, subject committed suicide by ingesting Household Products intended to clear drains. Review of journal entries suggest subject's heresy is related to recent worship of "The Binary". It is currently uncertain whether the subject was the source of this movement or was influenced through his family members. We are placing subject's family under close observation. Official instructions submitted to news agencies are to wait until six weeks after the state ceremony to publish the story of subject's death. His death will be treated as a political killing by foreign operatives. Earthdate 16052011: In one hundred years, many will remember my name. They probably won't know what I realized. In a thousand years, nobody will. My flight between worlds . . . through the great void of space . . . was no more important than the exchange of data between servers. I'm only one of billions that have died working in service of the Scarlet Empire. In wholly committing myself to the greater good of the Scarlet Empire, I've become a piece of data in tune with the Binary. Sometimes though, I wonder, Why? What purpose? There will be no eternity for me, the data of my life will one day be lost. What does the Scarlet Empire matter to a dead man? What matters to the living? There are no living folk in these times, just pieces of data. Everything began in the binary. Everything must return to binary. These worlds are nothing more than 0s and 1s, but perhaps, they could have been something more. It's too late now. Earthdate 17052011: Duty-bound to live. Yet life is duty no more, My frontier awaits. |

Scarlet (Little Upsilon) | Sunday, July 3, 2011 - 12:05 am No drugs. I just thought it was funny that the "space" thing is really just a dressed up way of transferring data between servers. |
