There's been a massive drop in the price of gold coins thanks to a rise in competition. The lowest price for a gold coin right now sits at only $0.99B over the amount that will be paid for a gold coin. Just putting it out there, guys - if those prices keep dropping, you won't be able to make a profit soon enough. Perhaps it would be wise to agree on a price and just all sit around that. Right now, Tommi's asking for $291B; how about that?

I just think that this ceaseless undercutting is going nowhere fast.

Wow, that happened quickly. Someone either bought up all that coin or you all retracted your offers. In any case, problem solved - I think.

Haha, Blueserpent.

Edit: Price will keep dropping in either case since there are far more people looking to exchange GC for sim-cash than the other way around.

The price will rise or fall depending on where "Tommi" wants it to be.

There are no players in this game that can consistently put 8,000 coin on the ask or bid to keep a price at a certain level.

"Tommi" (The gamemaster) is guiding the price down. The exchange rate was 460 in August 2010 and has been heading down ever since. Before that it was fixed at 460 from September 2009 thru August 2010.

Maestro, I hope you're aware that the exchange rate has been falling drastically for real years. I not sure but I think at one time it was $1.7T per coin. I know for certain that expecting $1T per coin was reasonable at one point. In fact, it wasn't always the same for all worlds.

Yoda,

Why the comment? Having a slow day?

Not stating a problem on this thread. Just facts.

The exchange rate goes wherever "Tommi" want it to go. This is fact.

Why the comment?

Like you tell everyone else, its a public forum.

Everyone that uses trade knows exactly what the exchange rate is.

What im not understanding, is your need to keep posting the rate its at. The facts as you say are there for all to see when they enter trade.

There is no supply and demand economics at work with coin trading on the direct market.

The gamemaster sets the price range. "Tommi" puts an endless supply of coin/game money on the market to keep the price range where they want it. End of story.

Supply and demand works fine...

Ask all the players who's coins i buy up and check out how many players are purchasing cash.

Im sure Tommi is doing just fine, as i am.

Your beef is with the price YOU cant get,not the system

Supply and demand is set in an artificial trading range, rigged by the gamemaster.

You don't even try to think.

Willard has mixed influences in the market, but right now he's keeping the price above. But even if he was gone, the minimum limit per GC is still above equilibrium.

"Tommi" has complete control of the price range.

If the gamemaster wanted, he could bring the price back up to 460 or down to 180. Not an overnight change but a gradual move like they are doing now.

This exchange move has nothing to do with economic theory.

No player in the game is going to put 4,000 coin on the ask and bid on a consistent basis. Only the gamemaster can do it.

Scarlet: "Broken record."

Indeed. I think I read the same post four or five times there. Maestro is somewhat correct; if the GM has control over the greatest number of GCs, he can, to some extent, control the price. But who cares? I was concerned about the fluctuation of prices around that mean, as controlled by players, rather than Tommi's desired mean. As long as I can make money, it's all good.

The only thing Willard does is define the range at which there is a market. If he only offered GCs at 410GCs, he would be the only frequent seller. Like now. The way is Down Argentina Way.

Maestro "No player in the game is going to put 4,000 coin on the ask and bid on a consistent basis. Only the gamemaster can do it".

Not true, i can put 4000gc's to match him or the cash.

Why should i? just to please you?

Yoda,

How much can you make day trading 4,000 coin? It's not worth it these days. There isn't enough volume in the market.

Magpies (IPA: /ˈmæɡpaɪ/, SAMPA: /"m{g%paI/) are passerine birds of the crow family, Corvidae.

In Europe, "magpie" is often used by English speakers as a synonym for the European Magpie, as there are no other magpies in Europe outside Iberia. That bird was referred to as a "pie" until the late 16th century when the feminine name "mag" was added to the beginning.[1]

Magpies are believed to be one of the most intelligent of all animals: the European Magpie is one of the few animal species known to be able to recognize itself in a mirror test.[2]

Yoda,

So knowing the gamemaster is still pushing the exchange rate down, you would accumulate excessive coin?

I think not.

And don't give me the crap argument that you can put 1,100,000 gamemoney up for sale on the direct market but choose not to. Rubbish. You aren't in the business of taking a loss for the hell of it are you?

You can't fight a tsunami and thats what the gamemaster is doing with with the exchange rate direction.
