Tom Willard | Thursday, March 24, 2011 - 10:41 am White Giant is the only world now running 3 game months per day. all others run 4 game months a day except for LU at 6 x per day. We have now finished a major upgrade of our servers and WG is now completing the main simulation run within 3 hours. It used to be 5 - 6 hours. we could increase its speed to 4 game months per day and we would like to do so. are there any reasons no to? please give us your opinion on this. |
NiAi (Little Upsilon) | Thursday, March 24, 2011 - 11:24 am I support to make WG like the rest 4 months a RL day. I see little need to have WG world running slower that it can. |
Laguna | Thursday, March 24, 2011 - 12:16 pm Send a message to the countries on WG. Most players don't read the forum or the game news. |
Synicus (White Giant) | Thursday, March 24, 2011 - 12:28 pm Works for me |
Maestro2000 | Thursday, March 24, 2011 - 12:32 pm I would support all worlds at 6 spins a day. |
Jo Salkilld (White Giant) | Friday, March 25, 2011 - 11:47 pm I disagree. One of the reasons this game is so appealing is that it allows the players the freedom to play in the way they wish to. Federation or solo. Econ or war. Large empire or single country. Points, levels or cash. Fast or slow. Some people get impatient if things take too long. Others, like myself, have busy lives and aren't able to log in four or six times a day. Those who crave a faster game can choose other worlds. Tom, please maintain the game diversity and leave White Giant as it is ... for those who like to take it a little more slowly. Hugs and respect Jo |
Slade (Little Upsilon) | Saturday, March 26, 2011 - 12:01 am I agree with Jo. I think a lot players play WG because it does run 3 times a day. I personally prefer the faster worlds, so I have my main thread of countries on LU. Just my opinion. |
SuperSoldierRCP (Little Upsilon) | Saturday, March 26, 2011 - 12:29 am I also agree WG should remain as is |
Josias (Little Upsilon) | Saturday, March 26, 2011 - 01:34 am I'm torn on this one. First, Jo has some really valid points, (i'm flabbergasted at myself for saying that!) Not every one is trying to be in the fast lane. Additionally, the slower ticks, creates a different flavor. Their are combat advantages gained via slower ticks. When you knock out bases and navies, it takes longer for them to repair. If your manually buying supplies. Its easier to keep up, on slower worlds. Faster worlds are more rewarding, over all, econ wise. And can make defending difficult, at times. Thinking about this, the only reason i'd like to see WG faster, is that it'd be better for me, but i'm not sure the change is for the best. over all, i'd say leave it as is. but i've been wrong before. shrug |
EC (White Giant) | Saturday, March 26, 2011 - 05:00 am Speed it up. White Giant is mostly econ anyway. Considering that one pays 1 gold coin per real day to play on WG, econ players should love the idea of speeding it up. More profit per day makes it easier to pay for that 1 gold coin per day. Seems simple enough |
Josias (Little Upsilon) | Saturday, March 26, 2011 - 06:00 am or that super heavy offensive military... daily cost increases... either way... its all good. |
Green | Saturday, March 26, 2011 - 06:34 am Speed it up to 4 |
Synicus (White Giant) | Saturday, March 26, 2011 - 08:34 am Only thing I don't like about game speed is the final day of each month lasting 1-4 hours. |
Psycho_Honey | Saturday, March 26, 2011 - 08:39 am I no how you feel on that Synicus |
Jo Salkilld (White Giant) | Saturday, March 26, 2011 - 03:44 pm There is a lot more to the speed of the world than making profit more quickly. To take one small example: if you change your education priorities to counter a sudden retirement bubble which leaves you short of one type of worker, and RL makes it impossible for you to monitor the effect for a couple of days, it can run away with you if 12 months have gone by in those two days. If only 6 months have passed, it's easier for those of us who have less time to regulate our countries more smoothly. Similarly, the IPO window has shrunk to the point where, on every world except WG, you only have about 5 mins to IPO before IFs get back in again. On other worlds it's not always possible, unless you are logged in for long periods of time, to catch that 5 minute window. However, if faster worlds are more popular and LU is getting over-populated, then Wendy's suggestion on the WG forum was a good one: speed up KB or GR to 6 months per day. That will cater for the players who desire more space on faster worlds, while still maintaining a choice for those of us who don't. I do, however, welcome the earlier-in-the-month updates on WG made possible by the faster server. Those countries at the end of the list are now updated by the 8th of the month, rather than the 15th, which gives inter-empire worker and cash exchanges a bigger window and makes it easier for those of us who are unable to spend 3 hours at a computer waiting for the last couple of countries to update. Hugs and respect Jo |
NiAi | Saturday, March 26, 2011 - 07:34 pm Jo, i understand your points, which are good ones. However, wouldn't it be better if W3C reserved a part of the month, like the last RL hour of every game month for IPO and stuff. Dunno if it would work with server load, but it would be nice if there was a more extended "window" for such uses, cause like Jo, very few of use can stay tuned for long lengths of time to just catch a window. Faster rotations increases the need for articical long "windows". While we are at it, why not simplify IPO to own CEO with a new feature, which decreases the need for long windows ;) Overall, faster is better in regards of the game worlds. SC is a long-term game, but if its too slow it will bore out more new players. (psst, see the new public poll in regard of world rotations) |
Josias (Fearless Blue) | Saturday, March 26, 2011 - 08:52 pm "While we are at it, why not simplify IPO to own CEO with a new feature, which decreases the need for long windows ;) " -NiAi considering the lengths that W3C went to counter the guy that had over 2k corps in one ceo... i doubt that will happen. |
SuperSoldierRCP (Little Upsilon) | Saturday, March 26, 2011 - 10:08 pm I think if ANYTHING Fearless blue and Little Upsilon should be 6months per day, Golden Rainbow 5 everything else as is. There should be a nice rate of time on all world. Some people have work and its understandable they cant check a country every day. Making the worlds move faster would make players who prefer the slower worlds upset. Sim Country demands diversity |
Synicus (White Giant) | Sunday, March 27, 2011 - 01:31 am A nice rate of time on all worlds? Problem is lots of folks on WG picked it to be on the most popular world, not the slowest. Seems to me the largest world should be the most popular as it was. Perhaps 3 total speeds, 6,4 and 2? what ever the change, please add it the world disciptions, sucks being mislead. |
SuperSoldierRCP (Little Upsilon) | Sunday, March 27, 2011 - 03:10 am The world views are misleading and should be fixed On topic WG speed should be left as is. Granted it is the largest and busiest but its become that way even well running the slower rate of time. I think upping the rate of time would remove the 3,4,6 balance. Not everyone has the time to check a country every 4,6hours. I also agree with Synicus there should be a few choices 3,4,5,6? Changing FB or GR to 5game months per day would be nice. I do think FB should be bumped to 5game months, if not 6months to match LU. Being the war world a player would have the extra time to devote to a war makes sense that it would run faster. Able to make 2months more cash, as well as 2times more weapons. Be a nice addition to are war world. |
Navamin (White Giant) | Sunday, March 27, 2011 - 03:14 am Faster would be better. |
Maestro2000 (Little Upsilon) | Sunday, March 27, 2011 - 03:26 am Just an idea for WG What about increasing the speed on WG and also increasing the blackout hours there? |
Psycho_Honey (Little Upsilon) | Sunday, March 27, 2011 - 05:24 am I'd like to see a decrease in Maestro. |
Maestro2000 (Kebir Blue) | Sunday, March 27, 2011 - 06:21 am Wendy, You make me feel so warm and fuzzy tonight. |
Psycho_Honey (Little Upsilon) | Sunday, March 27, 2011 - 06:42 am Nope that would be the alcohol. |
Maestro2000 (Golden Rainbow) | Sunday, March 27, 2011 - 06:48 am Maybe so, maybe so Have to admit you sure look purty after my fifth shot of Jack... |
Psycho_Honey | Sunday, March 27, 2011 - 06:51 am lol, I'm sure you hear that one more than anyone else here. |
Brian The Terrible (Fearless Blue) | Sunday, March 27, 2011 - 07:21 am I wouldn't mind it speeding up. |
Maestro2000 (White Giant) | Sunday, March 27, 2011 - 08:11 am ....wendy waaaaas that you on the victoria secret billboard in times square?............. |
Laguna | Sunday, March 27, 2011 - 05:43 pm I oppose in the name of game diversity. I would change my mind, if this particularly kind of diversity isn't valued by others. Seeing as faster worlds still have vacant countries, they either prefer the slow pace or don't value the higher pace of other worlds enough to move. |
Crafty (Golden Rainbow) | Sunday, March 27, 2011 - 08:22 pm Make the game real time. 8 years to take a C3 like Afghanistan, and it still isnt painted yet! |
