opensesame11 The Conqueror (Little Upsilon) | Tuesday, February 15, 2011 - 10:14 pm Just reread 'Protector' for the infinitilliardth time. Interesting parallels to Simcountry. Agreements? |
MVC | Wednesday, February 16, 2011 - 07:49 am I prefer his Pournelle collaborations, but your reference and question are apt. |
Scarlet (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, February 16, 2011 - 09:05 am Please elaborate for those of us that have never heard of Larry Niven or Protector. |
MVC (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, February 16, 2011 - 10:03 am Classic science fiction author. A few minutes research would yield many titles worth reading for fans of the genre. Protector is a highly imaginative tale dealing with an "explanation for Humanity" plot involving an alien race. Niven's views around evolution and sociology are readily apparent. This is a must read in preparation for his more successful Ringworld series. For a different track. You try HammerFall, the original "death by asteroid" story. |
opensesame11 The Conqueror (Little Upsilon) | Friday, February 18, 2011 - 03:04 am @MVC You mean the Co-dominium books? I guess they're alright. I prefer the known space, Betrayer of Worlds being the best book. |
