Thursday, January 20, 2011 - 05:33 pm In the last few days we've been busy setting up a separate blog website. The idea behind this new blog is to give players and other internet users a chance to read our game and vote news somewhere else, easier to reach. As an added bonus the development team will regularly post their views and opinions on updates or give you exclusive insights into our work and thought process. We sincerely hope you enjoy the new blog! Have fun reading and please, spread the word. Official Simcountry Blog!

Thursday, January 20, 2011 - 06:02 pm It's good Jonni. Some info in there about the server transfer. I would suggest using a different WP theme. Something that looks a little more like the portal. There are many free visually pleasing themes that would excite readers and maybe entice them to move onto the portal page. I think the default WP theme is too generic. I changed my wordpress theme and I get 90% positive feedback about the way the blog looks. Most people think it is an actual website, not just a blog. Side note, Jonni, do you think the server transfer has anything to do with the minor but annoying issues I posted in the problems section?

Thursday, January 20, 2011 - 06:37 pm I do like the blog, nice to see it I hope for frequent updates like blogs ought to have.

Friday, January 21, 2011 - 01:45 am The blog has terrible amateurish look and that has a heavy toll on first impressions. This blog as a nice header and this site has a good background. A background that would be fitting for a Simcountry blog would be a country's image at a region level. In other words, something like a region's map with the icons/detail of a country map. It also lacks web feed.

Friday, January 21, 2011 - 10:56 pm ^ You also need to watch, very carefully, what you type and post. Spelling and grammar mistakes like "he conditions a corporation" don't look good. I've noticed this problem in the game documentation, also. Maybe you should consider hiring a professional writer and asking them to write your blog and rewrite the game docs for you. If that's too expensive for you, I'm sure there'd be a myriad of Simcountry members (including myself)who'd be willing to rewrite the docs for pay/membership. If you make sure your blog looks professional and the game docs are up to date and comprehensive, the game will be much more popular and accessible.

Saturday, January 22, 2011 - 12:59 am Well. SC finally got an English professor to fix their English.

Saturday, January 22, 2011 - 01:36 am I think this blog is a terrific idea and would like to see some posts on visions, long-term and short-term plans, and development tidbits. That said, I agree with the posts above. The blog looks very amateurish. If I came across it first I would think the game is of similar quality and never consider playing. Just some constructive criticsm. Overall, I'm very glad to see it and hope that it gets updated frequently (with more than just the updates we get in the game).

Sunday, February 13, 2011 - 04:34 am It's the 13th of February. The last entry on the blog was on the 2th. Entries spaced by more than a week turn off readership. To start a blog you need resolve. Or are things so boring here, there's nothing to write? If anything, it looks like much should and can be done, and more importantly at a faster pace. Plus, the initial criticism still stands: the god-awful look must go.

Sunday, February 13, 2011 - 07:15 pm Seriously, can I put in an application with W3C to act as spellchecker, grammar Nazi and blogger for SC? If it meant free membership, that'd be awesome. In any case, fix your damn English and be a bit more consistent with stuff like this blog. Also, rename it. The game is either called Virtual Worlds Online or Simcountry, not both.

Thursday, February 17, 2011 - 01:02 am Geeze, I could do a layout 20x better, just with text. (I love my software suites:D) Then O could do well with the spelling and grammar. I would do it for sure if free membership was a benefit, as would many people. I can do web design as a full-blown business if I had more time.
