Xaldin (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, November 24, 2010 - 01:09 am So I've been sitting and watching for a while but I still don't see a lot of clarification about them. So I'm going to ask a series of questions in hopes that someone could answer them. 1) If I am War level 2 and I attack a C3, will I become a War Level 3 automatically or can I choose to stay war level 2? 2) If I declare war on a C3 and choose the option Declare war at war level 3 and win do I get the country or only the level increase? 3) Can I go down war levels? Say I hit WL 7, can I go back to a 3? 4) If I rise to War Level 3, can I attack a war level 2? 5) If I am WL 3, can a WL 2 attack me? 6) If I am WL 7, what WLs can attack me? 7) If I hit WL X where X is higher than 2, can I ever decide to go back to WL 1? Thanks |
Psycho_Honey (Fearless Blue) | Wednesday, November 24, 2010 - 01:12 am i THINK countries with a president at war level 3 or higher may be attacked by anyone. At level 3 and Above you are fair game. Or so I thought. |
Border C | Wednesday, November 24, 2010 - 01:26 am 1) You choose whether to fight at level 2 or 3. If you choose 3, you become WL 3 (if you win only?) 2) You get the country 3) You can ask the GM to reset you if you haven't attacked a player (dont know how many times they're willing to reset) 4, 5) Must be level 3 to attack players or be attacked 6) Could be wrong, but it's either 2 or 3 WL difference that can attack each other. 7) See 3 - BorderC, obfuscating the confusion since the mid, early-to-late century. |
Xaldin (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, November 24, 2010 - 04:54 am So as I'm understanding you two, I could take C3s as much as I want without actually getting that WL3 and being target-able by other players? Alternatively if I ever hit the button to advance in level I'll immediately be able to be attacked by any player who had a WL3 to WL5 or WL6 (ie almost all WLs in existence since supposedly 7 is the high water mark currently, +-2 or +-3 is a huge range). I'm assuming WL is empire wide, meaning if I take 500 C3s, they'll all be WL2 (what I am currently) or does each country have to increase its WL independently? |
Psycho_Honey (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, November 24, 2010 - 05:48 am War level is empire wide. From what I read, you can only be attacked if war level 3 or higher. Again this is from what I read. I notice you asked for clarity on this before and no one answered. If you want, you can have your war level set to 0. Then you can take c3s which will move you to level 1. You can then chose to attack only c3s and remain at level 1, so long as you make sure you click, attack c3 at level 1. As of now these are uneducated, but good guesses. Tommi needs to be the one to clear this up definitively. |
Xaldin (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, November 24, 2010 - 03:44 pm I've sent an email to hopefully get the war level reset (hopefully to the right address). The whole system confuses me so I'd just assume be as low as possible until I understand what is going on. Thanks for the assist. I definitely agree it would be nice to have Tommi post a 'War Levels and You' type of instruction set that includes lots of examples. |
Solomon Grundy (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, November 24, 2010 - 05:56 pm The GMs need to stop protecting players with rules. It takes away from the simulation. [Solomon takes off his bike helmet and throws it to the ground... Pulls off his elbow pads, takes a bite out of one and throws them to the ground as well, Pulls off his knee pads breaking the straps... Jumps back on his bike and says "I hate how my parents(GMs) are so over protective!"] |
Xaldin (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, November 24, 2010 - 06:27 pm Well I can see that point Solomon thing is this is the system they put in place. Since it is here I'm just trying to figure out how best to work with it. |
Solomon Grundy (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, November 24, 2010 - 06:50 pm I'm with ya Xaldin. The GMs must think new players will quit if they get beat upon. I don't think that's the case at all. New players are like lion cubs. Surly there are some lionesses around that would love to maul someone messing with the cubs. Surly federations would have(and still would be) themed to protect new players. Oh, and revenge is a great way to keep someone glued to the game. This game has never attempted a natural course, how do they KNOW it won't work? So lets see... the USA can't attack Iraq because Saddam only got to war level 2 by attacking Kuwait. hmmm Sigh... It's a SIMULATION not a kindergarden, we're simulating a world where weaklings get eaten... Let us eat cake! |
Solomon Grundy (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, November 24, 2010 - 07:04 pm Seriously! Germany(war level 7) attacks Poland(war level 1)... England(War level 5) and France(war level 5) declare on Germany. Now... lets say a war level 7 is not allowed to attack a war level 1, THAT SCREWS UP THE SIMULATION! Germany wanted to expand their boarders east, not west where the only country they could attack was because it had a war level high enough. War protection didn't go anywhere. Don't restrict our ablility to declare war with a 'leveling system'. |
Kitsune | Thursday, November 25, 2010 - 03:38 am Players *do* quit if they get beat upon... |
Serpent (White Giant) | Thursday, November 25, 2010 - 05:18 am Ok to clarify Xaldin... 1. You can choose to level up to lvl 3 or can stay at level 2. Your choice. 2. You get the country and the level increase. 3. No, you cannot go down in war levels. 4. No, you cannot attack a war level lower than yours, even if it is only one level. 5. No, a war level 2 cannot attack you if you are level 3. They must attack a C3 and level up before they can attack you. 6. If you are war level 7, only war level 7 can attack you. 7. Once you attain a level, you cannot go back down. Unless of course you can talk the GM's into it. |
