Tom Willard | Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - 03:57 pm We have completed a first phase of content distribution across many servers world wide. This change will result in a faster response time nearly everywhere in the world with much improved response in the US, Canada and Many countries in Europe. Most locations in Asia and Australia are also faster. Everywhere we have measured, response time improved. The content distribution may not take place immediately into every location. In some places, some pictures might be missing for a short while but will reappear a little later. If you miss pictures, try to use F5 and they might appear immediately. Many frequent players have cached many of the site pages and pictures on their own computers, as temporary internet files. In such cases, the performance improvement will result in a smaller advantage. Some pages have not been processed yet and are not faster. Many such pages are in the worlds and corporations. The Simcountry site will be updated again later on Tuesday (today) and nearly all such pages will be replaced by a new version that uses content close to your location. |
Laguna | Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - 06:10 pm That explains why I have images missing from the right column of links on the top of the country homepage, plus the video thumbnails. Refreshing didn't solve the issue. Clicked to view the image and: Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. |
Tisiphone (Little Upsilon) | Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - 06:16 pm Silly Laguna, try using babelfish :P My images are working ok, connecting from Ireland. |
Tom Willard | Wednesday, April 22, 2009 - 05:58 pm The new setup is running fine. 5.000.000 images have been downloaded in a little more than 12 hours from these servers. we have fixed some little errors and know of none. More optimizations are underway. load time of many country pages will decline further next week. |
