Messiah (Little Upsilon) | Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - 02:07 am In order to spice up the forums a bit i thought it would be nice to try a new and perhaps controversial topic. Who do you believe to be the greatest five simcountry players of all time, and why? Obviously you cannot include yourself in this list, and the whole idea is asking for opinions, as there cant really be a solid answer. Have fun, Dubhthaigh. |
Crossdale (Kebir Blue) | Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - 02:28 am Five great players besides me would be, Laguna, Yankee, Leen, Barney and John L. There are many other great players out there but those are my top 5, I feel these players have mastered the game militarily and economically along with being in the game a great amount of years. Three more I would add to the list are King Matt and David Walker and Sean of "Chaos Base". These are the players I grew up with ingame and also fought alongside with or against and these are the players I feel made a great impact in my life while playing this game over the years. UC 4 LIFE. |
Pope Samicus IX (Kebir Blue) | Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - 02:29 am 1.Rob Gonzales. Not as much for Empire size as for ferocity in foreign policy and effectiveness in his game goals. He was ruthless to his enemies and generous to his friends. A great model for anyone wanting to play the game. I miss his great simevil. 2. Barney Rubble...I am prejudiced sue me. Barney is the most kind hearted warlord I have ever met. He is a military genius and a great econ player. He is a valiant and loyal mentor and friend in and out of the game and deserves the recognition as an SC Master. 3. Laguna Loire....Economic fountain of knowledge. His assets are legendary and coveted by me. He is a wise diplomat and a efficient warrior. Founder of the SC Wiki and shares more knowledge of the game than any other player I have ever met. He is the voice of reason in a sea of insanity. 4. Leprechaun....He was big when I was a small n00b who mouthed off a lot on the forums. He sent me aid after my first nuclear holocaust. He was kind enough to bequeath me the start to my sim fortune when he left the game. All around nice guy. A real class act. 5. Yankee. How could you not have a top five and not list Yankee. He was kind enough not to kill me as a mouthy n00b. Yankee has forgotten more about war then most will ever know. He is honest, straightforward, and not afraid to let his feelings be known. He plays the game as it should be played. For fun but for keeps. I salute the many great ones who are still among us and who have left. I could keep going but I am not sentimental...I will just list the ones who have made an impact on me during my time on SC. Wild Jason. Mel. Steelknife. Manny. Scottie. Mrs Claws. Leen. Jo Sakklid. John Q Public. Saber. Demon Reaper. Pink Floyd. Thank you all. |
Zdeněk Pavlovský (Little Upsilon) | Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - 03:24 am esperandus - Matt Crouch I know I'm biased because when I started first time in 02 I printed his war guide and read it on a bus :P but he deserves to be among the most notable SC players for his skills and knowledge of the game, for his impact on in-game events and contribution to the community, but also for his personality because since his time nobody came so close to what he represented to me - natural authority. |
Zdeněk Pavlovský (Little Upsilon) | Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - 03:28 am now someone mention Genie ffs! /me pokes iki |
jason (Fearless Blue) | Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - 03:51 am my top 5 are: #1 Barney Rubble #2 sam #3 wild #4 Laguna #5 Yankee |
Zdeněk Pavlovský (Little Upsilon) | Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - 03:54 am and for the tripple as i messed up .. 5 then ok - esperandus stated already - Genie for TNN, mIRC channel is more than enough. His economic abilities are not to be questioned. - Laguna for .. what is there to add others havent said already? - Matt (not the same as esperandus) on GR. Never played there, with or against him, really but this guy, according to a legend, "owned" that world, which speaks for itself. - there are several candidates for the last spot but it will be HR - Holy Reign playing on FB, Canuck reading Marx trying to learn Russian lol if for nothing else then for his arrogance, and his ability to make me smile with his full of himself self proclamatory God-like comments and whom I paid for canceling his empire on FB. Notable warlord of his time legendary with 80k Heavy Jeeps takeovers. |
Tendo Ryu (Golden Rainbow) | Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - 11:15 am Im glad someone mentioned Esper/Avalon! Greatest player of all time in my opinion. Tendo misses him... |
Tendo Ryu (Golden Rainbow) | Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - 11:16 am Zdenek, what world did you play on in 2002? I was on FB. |
Daconia | Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - 03:17 pm Barney Sammy Pink Floyd DGoE David Walker They had the biggest influence on my simlife. |
Tisiphone (Little Upsilon) | Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - 04:31 pm 1. Laguna - Because he is the love of my life. 2. LH - You all know its true. 3. Sam - Due to his political influence and activity on many worlds. 4. Scottie - His controversiality and dedication. 5. Wild - (because she won't cook me dinner tonight if i don't put her on this list :P) <3 Other players who deserve to be on the list: Ameche, Yankee, Veritas, Daconia, DGoE, AcDudd, Pink Floyd. |
Laguna | Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - 06:31 pm 1. LH 2. FLewis 3. Hezekiah 4. CHOW 5. Manny That's my list and I'm sticking to it... The question was about which player was the most insane, right? Tried to sort it from most insane to least insane, but I ended up just taking papers out from a hat and sort it by which one came out to avoid technical ties. Nimz approves of the last two names, by the way. I'll give some thought about this later on. |
Tisiphone (Little Upsilon) | Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - 06:34 pm lmao |
Keith Allaire (Little Upsilon) | Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - 06:44 pm LOL LH and hezy definitely top the list for most lulz. Followed by Manny for TRAINS! |
Ares (Little Upsilon) | Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - 06:53 pm One player that hasn't been mentioned yet is General Dirt. He may or may not have been one of the best players to play, but he has greatly influenced both of the worlds I have frequented most in this game since I started playing. Dirt is relentless, clever, creative, and a good econ player. Just figured I'd toss his name onto this list since there are already so many good players up here, and Dirt probably has had the greatest influence on me of any player. |
Zdeněk Pavlovský (Fearless Blue) | Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - 07:18 pm CHOW was arguably the most misunderstood player ever. Nobody knew WTF he was on |
Stuart Taylor (Little Upsilon) | Tuesday, April 21, 2009 - 11:22 pm My list; 1) LG 2) Barney 3) Sam 4) Wild 5) Me |
jason (White Giant) | Wednesday, April 22, 2009 - 01:03 am "5) Me " you wish! |
Stuart Taylor (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, April 22, 2009 - 01:06 am lol Really though, my true number 5 is a tie between TP, Jason, Dub, KH and Pink. I really dont know where to start trying to decide! |
Barney Rubble | Wednesday, April 22, 2009 - 04:18 am This thread just saved me coutless dollars and hours of mind therapy to determine why my wife is divorcing me. THX |
Joseph Stalin (White Giant) | Wednesday, April 29, 2009 - 03:55 am Wow no mention of Tamara,Claws, or even the Great BK now those were the true greats of this game. LG LOL Manny he was the greatest ass of all times. Poor guy never got his trains rofl Flewis "respek yo" lmao priceless JohnG |
Dr.Anthrax (Little Upsilon) | Wednesday, April 29, 2009 - 04:07 am how come no one mentioned Treasurer he seemed like he was one of the best people to grasp the game economically. |
Shaler (Fearless Blue) | Wednesday, April 29, 2009 - 04:14 am Calloe Wolf Sincountries only Furry And I also agree with Dr.Anthrax T helped me alot when I first started. |
Miles Prower (Fearless Blue) | Wednesday, April 29, 2009 - 04:45 pm Laguna Brince Barney Sam Treasurer |
Barney Rubble (Little Upsilon) | Thursday, April 30, 2009 - 06:24 pm tres was a good player but if memory serves he bought alot of the old gonzales empire. gives unfair leverage against the players who built what they have. Given that I think laguna is likely the best I have seen, followed by lagunas best friend Vicious. |
Miles Prower (Fearless Blue) | Thursday, April 30, 2009 - 06:44 pm I also forgot to mention Steelknife. |
