Campaigning to get someone banned because you don't like what they're saying does not seem to be a good way to progress. It's pretty easy to simply not read posts that are made by people you dont want to associate with.

There are some on here who's posts I choose to ignore, but Wendy usually isn't one. I prefer not to read a vulgarity every 3rd word and some seem incapable of writing without cursing. I find Wendy's posts entertaining most of the time. When they cease to be, I stop reading.

Dear Wendy: first and foremost I am not in this conflict with you...and whomever you are fighting. I don't wish to be and nor does anyone else who visits the irc channel. However, I would like to correct some erroneous statements made about my... actions in the irc channel. For instance, being banned or kicked is not the first response and no one is differentially treated; everyone goes through the same order of outcomes. If the chat is being disrupting by someone(or people) I try to speak to the person, in public and in private about the behaviour that is disturbing others. 9.9 times out of 10, there is no problem and the conflict dissipates. However, if it occurs again (same day, or otherwise) after being spoken to several times, being kicked from the channel is the first real warning (the transgressor can then rejoin channel immediately). The next time, whomever gets another kick, then a short ban, then a longer one, and a longer one. This is my personal rule system and does not apply to anyone else who ops the channel nor does it necessarily reflect the opinion of the individual who owns the server. (though I my system has never been put into question as of yet). I should also add that this is the first time I've ever actually had to step in and enforce any sort of rule system. In 6 years of visiting that irc server. Now, regarding the current... conflict, These guys (Treasurer and thebrit) have progressed through this system in the same manner that you have, Wendy, I warned them repeatedly (as I did you), I kicked first, and will prob give another kick before I resort to a short ban, as what happened in your case. There won't be any differential treatment regarding that. Yes, people are being jerks to you, but often times you have started it through indirect /direct baiting. IE: changing your nickname to Stuarts_mum or threatening people who piss you off in irc with a war dec ingame, or just speaking to individuals in a rude, impolite manner. On that token, there are times when they start it too. But when they are asked to stop, they usually do, while you continue. Lately the fighting has been increasing and its much more difficult to determine who did what first and this and that. This conflict has brought hours and hours of daily conflict into the channel, often disturbing other people, and all attempts to get you(and others) to deal with it in private have failed. Wendy, we don't want to have to kick or ban anyone, but several ops have spoken to you about your behavior and because nothing is changing, we have to find alternate means to ensure that everyone in the channel can join in the chat without being disturbed constantly by the bickering between you and others. We (irc ops) do not like to be put into such a position; we don't hold any ill feelings towards you, but it does get tiresome to babysit your quarrels every single day and we no longer have the patience to spend hours trying to mediate your fighting. I personally am no longer willing to sift through logs, and babysit the channel constantly to prove who is innocent, to prove who made a no no, and to try to get you to see reason; you are all capable, mature people who should be willing to resolve this on your own time. You are always welcome into the irc server, as is everyone, even if you have a short ban, we don't hold it against you (personally), or anyone else for that matter. Many of us would just appreciate that the fighting not be aired out in public, because this is everyone else's time too, and its not fair to behaviour as though your time is more than everyone one else's by subjecting them to this constant bickering day in and day out. I personally don't need to hear that so and so is this and that, and that she is this and that. No ways. Nuh uh. No thanks. But I do wish you best of luck trying to resolve it amicably, and I hope that you guys will, someday soon. Sorry if I have offended. All are within the parameters of game and IRC conduct. You just don't like it becuase you have known them for longer and cannot be impartial to them. You have not been fair, dont come on to simcountry forum and try to word your crap all sweet like I am some kind of devil because i am not. I respect your loyalty to your friends but to use that as a justification for bnanning me becuase they get embarrassed for being idiots is not acceptable. I don't like it, or what you are doing. Now even trying to come onto Simcountry Forums for them and Propagate some crap story about how you have talked to me. | Wednesday, January 21, 2009 - 08:59 am Wendy, your posts since the IRC op came on strongly remind me of a certain court case, Gordon v Green in which the Plaintiff filed a 4000 page complaint, the court refused to read it because it violated every standard of reasonableness to expect the court to process such a complaint, and Plaintiff appealed. Specifically, one section of the opinion The Pleadings: Gobbledygook is applicable here. I am sure as hell not interested in reading a wall of text of IRC logs, and quite frankly, I think iki-ryo feels the same way because your trolling necessitates her to waste hours of her time doing so.

| Wednesday, January 21, 2009 - 09:58 am Well, I find it most unfortunate that this conflict has to be drawn out to such an extent. A lot of this unpleasantness could have been avoided if the parties involved had greater understanding of the cultural differences between players and were more sensitive and tolerant of each other. Wendy, there's one point that I'd like to clear up. iki-ryo truely is no more familiar with Treasurer, Ameche or Stuart than she is with you. They're as new to her as you are. Which means that their complains mean just as much to us as yours do. Now, I persuaded iki to return to IRC partially to deal with this Wendy/Anti-Wendy conflict that was constantly ravaging the channel. I felt that she would provide a gentler and more insightful touch towards moderation in #simcountry and she has accomplished that. She has gone above the call of duty to patiently listen to the point of views of both sides. I myself would probably not have the same amount of patience and time to squander on mollifying both sides and making sure you guys play nice. What i find to be most regretful, Wendy, is your decision to bring your issues with the moderation into the game. While i have faith in the integrity of my IRC moderators, such situations nevertheless do create possibilities for conflicts of interests to arise. We do recognise your right to do so of course, in the same way that we believe there is nothing inherently wrong with irate, disgruntled players deciding (or attempting) to war the game administrators, as has happened in the past. However, I do have to suggest that instead of fielding an additional and unnecessary in-game enemy, you could escalate your complain to higher levels, perhaps to me (with regard to IRC). There's always a chance that we can resolve your issues in a reasonable, satisfiable manner.

| Wednesday, January 21, 2009 - 11:45 am Me personally I have watched lots of arguements on IRC from many players here. I have no problem with it. I usually just watch, find it entertaining, and laugh alot at some of the comments coming from both parties. But now that it comes over onto the SC forum I dont find it quite funny anymore. This bickering now over here is annoying. I have a headache from reading all this. Wendy lets keep IRC on IRC and hopefully the rest of you will also. Just my 2 cents sorry. On another note Obama in office and now Ikis playing SC, hell even posting on the SC forums. What has the world come to lol. Welcome Iki please keep your damn Candaian weather to yourself ;) Because us here in Chicago dont like it lol
