is WC3 making a new world because when i went to the cash market they had the money exchange rates list that had.
Value of 555.00B KB $
Fearless Blue : 555.00B FB $
White Giant : 555.00B WG $
Golden Rainbow : 555.00B GR $
Little Upsilon : 555.00B LU $

Now? No.

Eventually? Yes.

Little Omicron is much older than three days. Little Omicron, as far as I'm aware, has been around for as long has Little Upsilon.

When LU was launched, LO also appeared on the Cash Exchanges page, but it was a mistake. As much as it was a mistake back then, it is a mistake now.

The only symbolical date I can see for the launch of a new world near is January first and that has passed.

Also, attending to the poll comments, W3C will only add a new world when vacancies on the others lower.

Doesn't look like this will happen anytime soon.

Everyone wants to play on Little Upsilon, which means the other worlds are becoming less populated.

well didn't they speed up kb once? if they start speeding up the ohter worlds, they will become more popular. thats why people are flocking to lu, its allot more fun when things happen in a couple days rather than a week

Agreed with Orbiter. I think they should speed up LU a bit more, and every other world in relation to it. That would surely increase interest, and therefore fill up the worlds quicker. More people playing = more fun!!!

But KB had run 4 game months per day before and that world is the smallest of the game.

To process a world of the size of FB or WG six times per day, and with an increasing population, will place too much stress on the servers and might increase the possibility for mistakes.

The data that is currently processed and its speed is quite an achievement already.

Perhaps the servers should be upgraded if they wouldn't be able to cope then LG. We all pay to play, so surely that W3C have some cash in the piggy bank?????

It makes sound business sense to me;

Upgraded servers = Quicker worlds = More players = Bigger profits = More fun for us

See, everyone would be happy! I would even pay a little more to get more players onto SC, and i'm sure others would too.....

You must think Simcountry uses servers found in the trash...

To quote Jozi, Simcountry's "server is very big with lots of memory and 4 very fast processors and the fastest disks you can buy".

What we already have is no small feat of engineering and software.

thank you for clearing that up lg, i guess i was mistaken. it still would be nice to see the other worlds speed up

I think the question of server speed was derived from the following logic:

"GR, WG, FB operate three game months per real day. They have apparently had the processing power to do this for the several years they have been open."

"Server technology has advanced in that time, but the speed of game processes, therefore allowing W3C to increase the passage of game time, did not necessarily follow. Therefore, have the servers been upgraded recently?"

Admittedly KB has sped up recently, but it might have been a fair question for the other servers, With W3C's recent announcement that shares trading would process continuously throughout the game month, instead of getting shoved to the latter half of the month after the "more important" processes had concluded, it might be reasonable to assume that W3C has chosen to allocate increased server resources to shares trading, rather than speeding up servers.

Admittedly, speeding up a world from 3 months per real day to 4 requires a very substantial increase in processing power, all at once...

That only counts for a small fraction of things.

As the server capacity increased, W3C allowed countries to grow in population and thus creating larger armies and more corporations. The number and size of transactions grew exponentially. And with each new player, even more.

To keep the number of transactions manageable, population was reduced and the hiring in corporations and weapons increased - at the same time, profitability remained intact.

Next, the new war engine was introduced. With the units moving around all the time and the constant resupplying, greater load on the processors from the war part of the game was exerted.

To put this in a simple manner, instead of increasing the number of months run per day, W3C has been focusing on trying to increase the quality of the game as a whole.

And speed is not always a good thing either. Have a declaration placed on a valued country. Then enjoy the 16 hours allotted to its defense. Not much time!

You could literally lose an empire between log ins.

I see your point, Barney...perhaps the time between war declaration and firing zee missilez should be a standardized 24 real hours across all worlds, rather than defined in game months that vary from world to world.

At the current rate, the computer technilogical power and possibilities doubles every year. You never know what's going to become available soon. Faster worlds may be made easier with in the next 6 months, pending global catastrophy, of course.

In my opinion, I think everything is fine AS IS.

For those players who love to micromanage large empires and delve into all strategies, the worlds that run at slower speeds are more enticing.

I can understand why some players that do not want to be totally engrossed in every single decision made for their empires, would want even faster worlds. But try learning more aspects of the game. The war engine is only one facet.

Barney makes a great point and probably the best reason for not having faster worlds than LU. Some players cannot stay logged in continuously to defend themselves. Some players do have REAL LIFE things going on.

I'm a dedicated player and I am on the game constantly as is. But that is not for defense but more for testing different strategies and the constant tweaks involved in maximizing profits, and other indexes.

With the latest changes in the profit formulas, I think we have enough to deal with at the moment. I took a look recently at FB and noticed it hasn't been this quiet in a long time.

I went to add a new enterprise today and Little Omicron was an option. The link doesn't work yet, but maybe it is coming soon?

Maybe FB should be considered for speed up given it is a war world, and its very quiet.

"Wise One", your name is just all wrong. You're not that wise. To even suggest that someone might have a "REAL LIFE" out side the game - That can't really be possible can it? I heard about that sort of thing a while back, but I figured it was just a joke and I didn't get the punchline.
I think that if the gamegods want to direct any new computing power into the details of the game( war game, share trading, etc.) instead of speeding up the game thats great! Quality over quantity I say!

Gandolf, it is not a joke it is a failure to understand basic logic.

Take for example an event like "I fire a nuclear missile at the wise one's country". If I just post it in the forum then it did not really happen. In order to "really" happen it would have to be on one of the planets, white giant for example. Being in the game is what makes it a real event. The idea of having a "real life outside of the game" is self contradictory.
