Hi Tom,

In one of your previous posts, you said:

"The world bank does not give out any loans at all.

"The world bank is giving out loans if nobody else is offering them. in other words:
if more people are asking for loans than the total amount of loans offered by players, the world market will loan to make sure the loans are available.

"This was our policy from day one.

"In the past year or so, the world market is not giving out loans. more loans are offered than taken.

"If you see any such loan, please let me know."

***

Is this policy specifically for White Giant, or does it apply to all worlds? If the latter, is Fearless Blue an exception?

My countries Puppet State, Durham and Muskoka on FB all have substantial loans from the World Bank.

That is because players are fearful of the new CEO financial service fees that will be given if their CEO cash reaches 20T like countries.

This has forced players to pull out cash that otherwise would have been placed in que for offered loans Since less cash is being offered out of fear the GM's have achieved their goal to drive players out of the loaning business and can now corner the market on all loan interest.

The GM's stated they have no interest in obtaining market share of the loan interest market, but their decisions and lack of communication have effectively driven the fear of players and caused outrage among veterans that spoke out against it.

That outrage has resulted in at least one player being permanently banned from the forums for fear that he would spark an uprising and mass exodus from the game and hurt the administrators bank accounts.

Be careful what you say people for the GM's do not care who you are or how respected a player you have become amongst your peers. They will ban you and brand you a troublemaker. Just accept their dictatorship and power trip as there is nothing any of us can do about it.

They have told us from the beginning, "If you do not like it, there is the door".

Excellent self control, Dan.

We must all accept that W3C is on a crusade to bring ALL numbers in the game to more realistic levels without just waving the magic wand and moving the decimal points several places to the left.

Game cash is foremost on the target list. However, the dollar amounts of everything from profits to costs will be reduced across the board. They are attempting to accomplish this through graduated adjustments to the game processes as well as cooercive measures such as financial fees to modify player decion making.

This is neither good nor bad. It simply is the way things are.

The end goal is a sim that is comparable to the real world.

Therefore, expect changes that reduce your sucess at creating large numbers, be they military forces, cash profits, or whatever. We eventually will reach the point where we are dealing with billions of SC$ at the upper end and military sizes will be in the thousands of weapons. Limitations will be in place to ensure this.

As long as proportions remain much the same, the game itself will remain much the same.

The wise course is to prepare oneself for downsizing one's expectations and personal measures of success. We must all recognize that this is the future of SC and adjust our thinking as changes are implemented.

None of this is personal and should not be interpreted as such.

Remember this game is and has always been a work in progress.

Ugh. Five trillion upper limit for financial services for countries? That's only a third the size of the US economy, a third the total of annual US production, if you will. How the fuck is a country supposed to rapidly militarize on that little? At one point I spent 60 trillion to rush a navy to mobilization in two real days (on LU, with my entire empire and war spending boosters to get the equipment transferred to the new war slave). Tom wishes to make such feats impossible, as converting GC back to cash takes time.

Rather than selling GC through the cash market, Tom should have just reactivated the old buy-direct GC feature. Many of us avoid the cash market because, quite frankly, it is simply a pain in the ass to use.

I'm happy to adapt to the changes in the game. I think some of the announcements (such as direct selling on the Cash Market) would help smoothe the use and encourage the use of the Cash Market. This comes down to the speed at which W3 implement these promised many features.

If the market cost of buying GCs goes up then we have to adapt.

I'm personally against any Financial Services or tax that isn't re-injected into the world economies in someway. I do recognise though that when lots of people have money, this will always drive up the cost. We can pay as little or as much as we allow, and that is quite a freedom compared to the limits within the game on product values.

Those who buy GCs earlier on I think could me sitting on a small fortune in the future. We can't play a mrket orientated game and then complain when theirs not sufficients quantity of GCs to buy at a desired price.

I am not necessarily against free market prices for GC, per se. I just wish there was an option to buy GC using the same kinds of trade strategies (start at X amount, increase by Y% each day order is unfulfilled) that exist in the game worlds.

There would still be a market price mechanism, but the cash market would be soooooooo much easier to use for those of us who can't be bothered to drool over auctions.

I have proposed this twice in exclusive voting, and both times the proposal was accepted by the community in wide margins, but since Tom said he would update vote results every week on Tuesday and he has not, this idea has fallen by the wayside... :(
